Recent discussions about locks made a light bulb pop to life over my head!

Locks are mechanical and metal. Two reasons to keep them well lubricated.

When we recycle cylinders we lube each one with Houdini spray from Landlordlocks.com. We can instantly feel the difference once the used cylinder is sprayed.

(Use the thin tube and spray into the keyway, insert key and work it around for a moment.)

Because some residents stay for YEARS I realized we are not changing their locks so those cylinders are not getting lubed.

Now on the list is to shoot some Houdini spray into front and rear locks on the Preventive Maintenance Visit. Twist it around with the masterkey.

Makes them smell citrusy fresh too!

Happy Landlording all Housing Providers!

BRAD

In my area most of the Lowes stock Houdini lock spray in the 2,5 oz size. We use it to lubricate lock cylinders as well as latch bolt & the dead bolt on entry doors & the slide mechanism in our coin-ops. I've never seen the larger cans locally but you can order it directly from the manufacturer Protexall Products, Inc. --71.174.xxx.xx

I got my Houdini directly from LLLocks. It works great. Don't forget a terry cloth rag when you use it. It will leave a streak all the way down the door if you use a tad too much. --69.80.xx.xx

How well does Houdini spray work against icing?

Two years ago we got hit up with that polar vortex and I was having issues. WD40 worked to remove the water....after it warmed up. --24.101.xxx.xx

Ray-Ray,

WD40 stops squeaks because it is sticky gooey gummy the longer it sits in the lock.

I’m not a scientist like others here but I suspect the silicone would repell or resist moisture. Overall, well lubed will eliminate a lot of issues.
