Wife and I got Moderna shot this morning. Not sure how this company was selected but it was a clinic run by Vietnamese and wife and I were only Caucasian there. Everyone else Asia-- including shot givers and staff. (Just found curious) No African Americans either and in this area is VERY interesting. Saw them turn 2 youngsters -- below 65 away-- everyone else looked old like us.

Need booster in 28 to 30 days.

So Feb 14 next trip scheduled. Cancun here we come.

My wife and I also had the Moderna vaccine -- me two weeks ago and her last week. No reactions at all except for some arm muscle pain for the first day or two.

It seems that people getting their 2nd dose are more likely to have some mild reactions such as low-grade fever or fatigue -- very similar to how many people react to the flu vaccine.

In the facility I was at, they make EVERYONE wait 15 minutes after their shot before they leave -- just to double-check for any reactions.

All of the above is wrong except where he says to have a doctor retest. But the retest is dangerous also to some people. He needs to keep his mouth shut about dangerous allergies.

My doctor told me he would not want to do a retest and I should go with the recommendations I had over my lifetime. I didn't just get a rash as a child. I was passing out and having a hard time breathing. I think this guy said he is a fireman or something.

From The Epoch Times online. One death following a vaccination attracted attention earlier this week. Gregory Michael, a 56-year-old medical worker at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, Florida, was injected on Dec. 18, 2020. Sixteen days later, he died.

Michael’s wife Heidi Neckelmann said on Facebook that her husband was “very healthy” before being vaccinated. She said he was admitted to an intensive care unit with a diagnosis of acute idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, a blood disorder, caused by a reaction to the vaccine. He eventually passed away.

“He was a pro-vaccine advocate, that is why he got it himself,” Neckelmann wrote. “I believe that people should be aware that side effects can happen, that it is not good for everyone and in this case destroyed a beautiful life, a perfect family, and has affected so many people in the community. Do not let his death be in vain, please save more lives by making this information news.” --71.104.xx.xxx

I'm allergic to penicillin”, I replied to STARGAZERS post, if I wanted to take a shot at you I would’ve started my post with “Ally”. 2) google “penicillin allergies outgrown” and you will see many, many articles that confirm the FACT that many (almost 80%) of penicillin allergies are misdiagnosed or outgrown. 3) cite 1 article from a medical expert that confirms your belief that individuals with penicillin allergies CANNOT receive the COVID vaccine. Going through life believing ridiculous Facebook posts or some other stupid thing you read online and passing off as real news is irresponsible. Lastly, in reference to your post at 9:13 pm, nobody on here, including myself, have stated that the vaccine is not without risk to some individuals, but this is your MO, you post some ridiculous comment, then after someone questions the validity of your statement you attack that person, then post irrelevant articles that have very little, or no connection to your origin comment in order to “back up” what you”re claiming!! --74.74.xxx.xx

Holy mackerel. NO I was not shot although I can see from the heading it was a bad choice of wording.

For Moderna-- there were all types of questions on the intake form. Fact is it's the standard form you fill out any time you go to a new practice. There was 1 question that concerned me-- the blood thinner. If your on it. So I call me heart Dr. And he said there is no connection between the C-19 and blood thinners. There was a question about penicillin something about allergic to eggs. Again it wasn't reason to be denied just an office question. If you take penicillian you have seen this question all the time.

Day 2 my shoulder is a little tender-- but I have plenty of muscle and meat there. My wife at 105-- her arm is very tender. We have no other side effects-- no high temp yada yada.

Moderna 2nd shot is Feb 13 at 830am. What I read: first shot gives 50% protection and booster gives the additional 45%.

This shot is like home insurance. Something you don't want to use but will be happy to have. The risk of no shot for those over 65 is too great for us. I've read page after page on the science of this and feel somewhat comfortable with the shot.

6X6 I'm shocked you would think I wouldn't take it. I tried and almost made it to the first over 65 to get it.

6x6, in fact this so-called "new" vaccine is based on decades-old research on RNA technologies. The research was started during the original Obama admin, I believe, but it could have been earlier than that. Technology in general has come a long way: we can now map genomes far faster than even a decade ago. So even though this SEEMS as if it was rushed out, it's actually based on good technology.

That said, some people will have reactions, some might even die. But all that I've read about this virus is that EVEN IF YOU SURVIVE THE INFECTION, your body can be changed forever.

I have a young (40's) healthy friend - no comorbidities, not overweight, perfectly healthy. Caught it even with all precautions taken except she has young children so who knows? Anyway, got it, survived it, but now she has a new heart problem, had to take leave of absence from work and is dealing with all kinds of things. SHe is very sad.

I have another friend, NICU nurse, lots of co-morbidities, like weight & diabetes. Caught it, survived it, but her lungs are permanently compromised. She can't draw a deep breath, other organs were affected. She is in a study of some sort now.

There's more but you can read about it everywhere...

6x6, Regarding this vaccine, it all comes down to risk vs reward. For many people the risk of a bad reaction is worth the reward of an increased protection from COVID. The concerns you mentioned regarding side effects can also be applied to COVID itself, many individuals have no, or minimal symptoms from the virus, for some though it proves to be fatal. No vaccine is 100% effective 100% of the time, it is still possible for people vaccinated for any of the common diseases, measles, polio, diphtheria, etc, to still get sick. The way vaccines work are by preparing the body to fight the illness, they don’t magically block the virus so to speak. so in regards to the COVID vaccine, your body is prepared to fight off the virus because it has already made antibodies specific to that virus. Your body has basically practiced fighting off the virus. I’m not trying to convince you 1 way or the other, I’m just putting it into prospective. --74.74.xxx.xx

6x6: There is some confusion about that should be clarified.

In general, we should be wearing masks to protect OTHERS. We are not wearing masks (with or without the vaccine) to protect OURSELVES. Masks are intended to prevent us from spreading the virus to other people. You wear a mask for others.

The vaccine is designed to stop us from getting infected with the virus. So, we take that for ourselves.

Studies have not yet concluded if we can still SPREAD the virus after we are vaccinated even if it keeps us from getting it. There is still a chance that we can carry the virus and spread it to others even after the vaccine (which can prevent us from having our bodies infected with the virus, but might not fully prevent us from being carriers to spread it to others).

THAT is why we wear a mask even after we are vaccined. Because masks protect others, not ourselves.

We are still waiting for more information on that case. My understanding is that it was just a very unlucky and unlikely fluke. That some people develop acute immune thrombocytopenia after certain medicines (such as quinine and some antibiotics) and that it may even be a genetic trait. It can't really be predicted -- some people are just more susceptible. He simply had a yet unknown disorder/trait and, unfortunately, passed away because of it.

The vaccine didn't necessarily cause the disorder/trait -- he already had the issue -- it likely just triggered it (as certain other drugs may also have triggered it).

When you vaccinate millions of people, a few odd exceptions are, unfortunately, likely to occur.

Pennsylvania is so far behind the curve. I believe they are still working in the first phase for medical workers. Four phases (fourth being 'regular' people). Who knows when it will even get to the assisted living. My elderly family member's assisted living home (125ish residents) has absolutely no idea when they'll be getting their shots (employees and residents).

And for more fun news, Dr.Rachael who is in charge of this fiasco is going to Washington !! Question then is ... if she's got this under control, who screwed up the implementation? If she (understanding there is an entire team and she is the spokesperson) screwed it up, does the new prez think she's got everything else going for except this virus? Or ... is she a figurehead for ever changing/evolving norms and he is using her. Inquiring minds want to know. --72.70.xxx.xxx
