Rental Wanted Question (by Oregon Woodsmoke [ID]) Posted on: Jan 15, 2021 2:01 PM

[[[[[....... ...... i love hiking travling singing danceing partying .....i drink on occasion i smoke cigs often .......... im on disability so i can pay every month.......... ill be home often but mostly i be shopping or making new friends and going to explore............ oh most time every morning ill be at the gym working out ......]]]]]]]

OK, here is the question: how does this person who hikes, dances, travels, and works out at the gym every day get herself onto disability?

Typical rental wanted ad. She wants a place for about 30% of the going rate and has photos of herself that look like maybe she doesn't have any clothing on. Cant afford rent, but she can afford cigarettes.

Her and dozens just like her are available if anyone is looking for a tenant who can't pay and won't take any responsibility.

Guess who she voted for?

Sounds like the "bad-tenant" starter kit was her Christmas gift.

Smoking cigarettes is a million dollar habit here over a person lifetime from starting work to retirement if invested money would have over a million dollars. While housing is expensive no matter if rent or own people do not realize the costs of running rental units along with paying high property taxes, utilities not included in rent, maintenance where a boiler or furnace wears out, roof replacement, structural repairs, appliances replacement and repairs, other costs that it is impossible to give a massive discount in rent. Most experienced rental housing providers separate personal from business where dealing with is business only. Seven hundred and above credit score along with being able to sign for utilities or you walk is the norm here. If wanted anything else then that is possible outside of rentals. A illegal basement apartment or apartments in a house does not have a central fire alarm or fire separation between rental units. The reason for a lower rent is property taxes on a single family home along with no cost of having a central fire alarm system, fire extinguishers along with maintenance of fire enclosures in hallways where someone stupid removes parts from door closures. Finally if a illegal rental unit there is a serious fire insurance here will not cover as this was insured as a single family without getting proper building permits.

She also felt a need to tell you or everyone on whatever web site her whole story, that alone is enough to tell me i dont want her. Plenty,i bet it wasnt who i voted for

I am not sure what disability is paying up there, but I don't have have any rentals where disability income alone would qualify as enough income.

There are plenty of homes available though for someone like this - around here they typically have wheels on them.

As for how do they get disability - could be a mental issue or something like that. They could be sad that they aren't getting your rental....but you are solid landlord that upholds standards.

I had a man answer an ad for my rental. He told me basically he was going to move in and rent for one month and then decide if it was right for him. He had a list of qualifications which had to be met before he would move in. Like he was in charge of the whole process. It was so weird I just stopped communicating.
