The dishwasher was almost never used. Tenants moved out and it was filthy and I discovered the drain tube clogged with grease BAD because it was not hooked into the sink drain correctly and debris washed down the sink drain went into the dishwasher drain tube.

Repaired that and the dishwasher does not spray NOTHING - water fills up in the bottom of the tube but no sprayers have a drop.

I do not even here it trying. I cleaned out the bottom screens etc. I turned power on and off. electrolux ffcd2413ub1a

It is extremely likely the clogged drain is related. I suspect the tenants used the dishwasher for a few weeks at the most (it was brand new) if at all. It still have the foam & tags and free soap inside!

The water in the bottom of the tub does drain. The unit makes almost no noise at all. It was a cheaper model and built around 3 years ago. --76.189.xxx.xxx

I've had luck pouring vinegar in dishwashers and letting them soak for a day or so. I have no idea why tenants rent a house with a dishwasher and then dont use it, but I've gotten houses like this back and dishwashers like to be used, they aren't made well nowadays, so my new check list is when i go to check furnace filter, flush toilets and start dishwasher! --172.56.xx.xxx

Try turning the pump motor where once the pump motor starts to turn then the water will go through. The sump may have to cleaned out where use 10 per cent vinegar to clean out. The bottom may have debris where that is blocking everything up. --99.236.xxx.xxx

If a dishwasher is draining then the pump is working. The motor turns one way to drain a tub and the other to spray.

When you pull off the screen look for the PUMP side of the impeller housing-- sounds like something is in the tube. Find many pieces of glass or plastic stuck in tube. FYI the impeller looks like a bicycle sprocket-- it feeds into the pressure or drain by way of the housing. --99.103.xxx.xxx

DonV,

If they left the packing foam, tags, and free soap in the machine nothing you find would surprise me.

My only tip: Cascade GEL crystallizes and completely clogs the pin holes of the sprayers shut.

Other than that, DWs are cheap and we consider them almost disposable.

Other than that, DWs are cheap and we consider them almost disposable partly because we no longer have an appliance repair tech in our area. If we cannto do an easy fix, toss it. It's an easy swap.

did you find the sprocket I described? or is this a unit that has everything under the unit? If under stick a shop vac over center and suck what's blocking the unit out of the pressure line.

How have you verified there's no spinning? --99.103.xxx.xxx

i'm with brad here. i am skillful enough to take apart parts and find paper towels or other debris but they are $250 and swap in easy. if the folks were that filthy the thing is a loss. years ago i has a BRAND NEW machine fail for non use. the guy was not a dishwasher user and the seals dried out or something like that and leaked when it got used finally. i added lease term for that as follows:

Please observe the following practices in the kitchen:

Dishwasher

If you are not a dishwasher user please run the machine through a cycle every week to keep it in good running order. The dishwasher must be run periodically to maintain the softness of the seals and to keep the motor from seizing from non-use.

If you are a dishwasher user please be sure to run the water at the tap until it is very hot BEFORE you start the machine. Doing so will give you hot water for the wash and rinse cycles and improve the cleaning.

Please be sure to remove large food from the dishes before loading the washer. Dishwashers are not designed to be garbage disposals. Failure to rinse dishes will cause plumbing stoppages that are your responsibility.

Garbage Disposal

The wastewater from the dishwasher is routed through the garbage disposal. Consequently, the garbage disposal must be run until free of food before each use of the dishwasher. Failure to do so may result in blockage of the disposal and overflowing of the waste water at the sink deck or under the sink.

Please start the garbage disposal BEFORE putting food into it for processing

All damage to the property as a result of water overflows and plumbing stoppages is your responsibility.

PLEASE NOTIFY THE MANAGER IMMEDIATELY OF ALL PLUMBING LEAKS OR WATER LEAKS OR WATER RELATED ISSUES OF ANY SORT. WE NEED TO HAVE TIMELY NOTICE OF PROBLEMS IF WE ARE TO MINIMIZE REPAIRS AND ASSOCIATED EXPENSES.

Normally I would NEVER attempt to repair a DW, but this thing was new. I figured it had to be something simple and keep wasting time on it. Old tenant was overdue on rent so I have been trying to make up some money - not a good idea!

Everything was underneath. It wsa literally brand new, not even dust. Took all hoses off no dirt nothing. Nothing clogged we can see. Motor spins freely (I have not tried to run it through a cycle taken apart to see it spin).

In the DW tub was a lot of soft crap - smelled bad. Overflow from sink must have go it. Note when I first discovered this any debris down the sink drain flowed into the DW drain hose - it was clogged with grease. Most likely it backed up into DW.

I really suspect it was never ran until I tested if after they moved out. --76.189.xxx.xxx

that hose from the sink is the drain line-- you said it was draining?

Worse thing for a dishwasher is NOT to be run. --99.103.xxx.xxx

Yes hose from DW to sink is definitely draining ok. Bottom of DW fills up and drains but nothing sprays at all. Everything looked clear. Really odd. --76.189.xxx.xxx
