Here's to you 2020,

nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah, hey hey hey good by.

or

good by and good riddance to bad luck. (AC/DC)

Okay everyone, it is time to get rid of some things. 2020 and depression are two of them. Our friend Ray-N-PA on here has been giving us a nudge to look at things differently and a little more positively.

I don't really do resolutions as they don't usually work out. However, I remember when I was a young teen that I decided to set a couple of goals. I wanted to have my own house and a truck by the time I was 25. I wanted to not live on welfare as in my childhood. This is when I developed my saver attitude as it was the only I knew to do. Once I got a W2 job and got on the right track I learned to save. I never took vacations and never did a lot of anything that cost money except put it into old junk vehicles(bad idea). I bought my house that I still live in today and had two trucks( 1 nice and 1 not so much but I loved them both because that is my true passion since I was a kid. I love trucks and the bigger the better). I was 23 years old at that time. I was so proud of myself.

My point being that goals work for me. My goal that I want to achieve now is to loose the depression, think more positively, be more cheerful and try to gain some self confidence as Hoosier suggested to me. I have already been trying to work on that. I also want to crawl out of my shell and and be more social. So instead of a resolution, I will do goals. Thank you Ray and Hoosier and others for the nudge.

May you all have a great New Year.

Success is a journey and not a destination.

Has 2020 been a good trip - nope. But you will have years like that. They make the good ones that much better. In the end, you only need get one more time than you are ever knocked down to win.

I have faith that 2021 will be better year than 2020. It will not be a picnic either. I think 2021 will shake out the grower from those that plain old say that they have had enough. Opportunity is found in a CHANGING market place.

Having goals is great. Challenges are inevitable, but meeting them and beating them is what separates successful people from those who aren't.

I too saved for years before being in a position to be able to take vacations. As Dave Ramsey would say, "I live like no one else today so that I can live like nobody else tomorrow." --73.25.xx.xxx

6x6, Thanks so much for the post. Yes I feel the work ethic and the forgoing extras and vacations to build an income stream. But if I had to do it all again I would. It has been a great road to do it yourself. And many times there is more satisfaction in the less-is-more Spartan ethic. 2020 will not be a year to forget... Covid, rent moratoriums, masks, Black Lives Matter, presidential elections, forest fires....and also NO traffic for several months! I am looking ahead to ushering in 2021. --174.198.xxx.xx

6man,

Fortunes are made or lost in times of crisis. DECIDE to make your fortune.

We hear about the losers on the news.

BUT...I'm also hearing about those who adapted or innovated and are soaring! Check out BLUE COLLAR MILLIONAIRES on YouTube and maybe Netflix. Guys and gals who came from nothing, little schooling, and DECIDED to grow.

I teach to start with the DREAM. Go look at the new trucks and maybe a tank to go with your truck! Calaculate how many rental you need to pay for something you want. This will open your eyes to opportunities that have ALWAYS been right in front of you but you were not ready to see them. The DREAM will give you new eyes and confidence.

I lost several thousand to the deadbeats we had difficulty removing during the pandemic but made more money this year in spite of them. I raised rents our normal 2.9%, trimmed some costs (getting lean is always good for businesses). Those simple changes more than covered the loss from the deadbeats/eviction moratorium.

Early on Christmas Eve Wifey wanted take out food. We called in a pick up order to Chili's. The dining room was at Covid capacity, the bar was "full" with a 20 minute wait for drink orders, and the pick up cashier was hustling with Door Dash drivers coming and going.

As I drove home I saw long drive thru lines at some restaurants, but most restaurants were closed, probably whining about no business while their competitors were BOOMING!

BRAD
