in essence......... Congress steals your checkbook and decides to write you a measly $600 check with your own money.

A pittance of $600 that won't change a thing . Speaker of the House called the previous $1200 you got - "crumbs" but she praises it now

However, The Moratorium DOES expire next week

The Presidents pocket veto means that the Lobbyists on "K" street must start over from the beginning writing new legislation for Congress.

Hint : Congress never ever actually write legislation - they are too incompetent and are ill prepared to do so.

If you think that 5500 page bill with all its legal language and references to other legislation is written by Congress/staff - you are massively uninformed

try reading any piece of legislation - you can't -it is lawyer/lobbyist gobbledygook

a win for all Americans if the President follows through

Please don't sign it Mr president - close down the govt so they know how many feel in their states lockdowns

J, another thing you should realize about these moratoriums is that these little governing bodies can send out any legislation they want. For example, a city Council can pass a law that is totally unconstitutional. It will never go away until someone challenges in court and get it overturned.

The smoke and mirrors part of these moratoriums is that all you're going to see on the lamestream media is housing crisis, eviction title wave, no more evictions for anyone!. All that nonsense. What's your not going to see in the news as this moves forward is, ABC rental company who owns 10,000 rentals sues the CDC for $6 million and wins. That won't be in the news, because it doesn't fit the blatantly obvious agenda of a certain party that basically controls the news outlets.

You may find these court cases by digging, but it won't be nightly news. --70.44.xxx.xx

Another "vote" to veto -- formally or via pocket veto -- the second stimulus.

Why?

Reason 1 (less important): Govt has no money, even if we DID want to do it.

Reason 2 (more important): Because the country needs to hurt to demand an end to these shenanigans. So far, people have been bought off by the Govt pittance tossed their way via stimulus checks, enhanced unemployment, and allowing them to get away with not paying one of their most basic expenses (housing). That needs to end immediately People will demand change when they feel pain, not before. There hasn't been enough hurt yet to make them demand and end to shut downs and moratoriums. We need the wool pulled off of people's eye so they know that there is no possibility of the Govt "paying" for shutting down 1/3 of the economy.

"Cancel rent" needs to become a cuss word phrase in the nation's vocabulary.

Mitch McConnell basically has a pile of bills on his desk that he refused to do anything with.

Saying that Pelosi "held the public hostage" but ignoring that McConnell has done that time and time again is just being dishonest about the situation.

If you can't see that BOTH sides tend to suck, then you're really missing things. I am not a Pelosi fan, in general, but to blame her when McConnell is even worse about sitting on things is just unfair and wrong.

Nutshell: The politicians are sending much of the stimulus bill overseas as foreign aid - gender studies in Pakistan, 480 million to Ukraine which is then "recycled" as kickbacks to the politicians that sent the foreign aid via their relatives like Hunter Biden. There is less kickbacks expected when the stimulus money is sent to Americans - so you get $600 and the foreign aid is for the politicians. Trump knows this is a foreign aid scam and will veto unless the amount is increased to $2k per American from 600 and the foreign aid waste is reduced. --174.65.x.xxx

Message:

I love how you say that what we've said is "fallacy" and back it up only by going "If you can't see it is false without any research at all, then you're ignorant."

Um, that's not how it works. If what we're saying is false, then provide some data to back it up. Here's my part to back up what I just said:

The House passed a bill for $3.4T that included larger stimulus checks and unemployment payouts. This then went to the Senate waiting for McConnell to introduce it, as usual. He has not -- it still sits.

Instead, McConnell wrote a "skinny stimulus" that only had $500B in it -- back in September. This bill failed due to a filibuster by the Ds in the Senate.

Pelosi then passed a second, smaller bill after months of negotiations that was at $2.2T. It was passed to the Senate where, once again, it sits on McConnell's desk waiting for him to present it (which he will not do, of course).

T and Mnuchin then made a call for a $1.8T compromise bill after Mnuchin and Pelosi worked on things for a while (because McConnell said he would not work with Pelosi on this). This bill we never got to see because even before it was presented, the Senate GOP said they weren't happy with the compromise (and most of the Dems in the House would have not liked it either -- both sides were not good with it). McConnell panned the bill saying he'd be unable to get support. Instead, two days later, he re-introduced his $500B skinny bill for a vote and, again, it was show down. This is mid-October timeframe.

We then get to election time and stimulus talks start up again. Th GOP says they won't go over $1T. McConnell then re-introduced his $500B for the THIRD time and, of course, it fails again.

That gets us to the current bill. There is about $450B left from the CARES Act that wasn't used -- so that was reappropriated into the new stimulus deal. (So, in reality, the current $900B bill that we're all talking about is really mainly McConnell's $500B skinny bill (with the no-liability-for-employers clause removed) combined with the leftover funds from the CARES Act from before -- so it really is McConnell getting what he wanted and the Dems compromising.)

That bill passed both the House and Senate finally. The problem was it is coupled with the normal omnibus spending bill for fiscal year 2021. That is what contains most of the side-issue stuff (like foreign aid) that people are riled up about.

Then T did his 11th-hour Twitter tweet complaining about the bill giving undocumented immigrants $1800 and such (which, by the way, isn't accurate either, but that's a whole other issue).

Long story short, what was said above was not "fallacy" -- it was fact. Several bills were passed in the House and then passed to McConnell and he let them sit and refused to even present them for a vote.

You can say that you don't LIKE the bills that the House passed if you want -- but that doesn't mean that they didn't exist -- and it doesn't mean that me mentioning them and McConnell sitting on them was a "fallacy." They existed and McConnell did exactly that. Where is the fallacy in that?

I'm not convinced a lot of people here have really don't much research into this at all. They just hear little soundbites. Those that know me on this forum tend to know that I often do a lot of research on things -- be it landlording or otherwise. Hopefully people that have seen my posts about Service Animals and ESAs remember that I tend to go look up the laws and really dig into the research before presenting anything. So, it really bothers me when you basically go "What you just said is false and if you don't see it, then you are of the ignorant group."

Sorry, but I really don't think that is true and I think I've proven that time and time again here in other research. So I've posted the above to try to make others see that I haven't done some research here -- and I'm clearly not ignorant of what is going on.

“As President I am demanding many rescissions under the Impoundment Control Act of 1974. “

Trump: I will send back to Congress a redlined version, item by item, accompanied by the formal rescission request to Congress insisting that those funds be removed from the bill."

HR 6800 -- went to Senate and died.

HR 8406 -- voted on by House but never sent to Senate: The original bill, which passed in the House in May as a follow-up to the CARES Act, was slated to cost over $3 trillion. However, it never made it to the Senate floor; Republicans balked at the price, with some calling it “dead on arrival.”

Finally, after doing nothing for 2 months most of 8406 was lumped into the 2021 budget bill but was delayed because of grandstanding by a lame duck then eventually signed by said lame duck because when a duck quacks it is just noise.

Plus a myriad of other Covid related bills that the House passed but died in the Senate. --50.5.xxx.xxx
