Was scrolling through FB and saw a commercial for the Progripper.

Basically, it's a self-adjusting clamp that allows one person to carry drywall/plywood/etc more easily.

Not being tall, and not having the best upper-body strength, it's difficult for me to carry awkward, heavy things, even if I can physically manage the weight.

Has anyone tried it? I see a comment saying that it's not well-balanced, and it's not as easy as it looks in the ad. And I see another comment that says it doesn't hold the sheet tightly enough to carry.

I'd totally pay $60 if it means I can unload plywood and drywall without waiting around for DH or my handyguy to come do it for me. ;) But it would be nice to get some confirmation from someone who's tried it themselves.

The trouble with this style of carrier is that it tends to crush softer materials like SR. Most of the lumberyards & BB stores around here have a different style that attaches to the bottom of the sheet instead of the top. I have one of those carry devices. It only works well with plywood type of durable products OR smaller pieces of drywall. For drywall Home Depot sells a plastic caddy that works better for short people, you carry it from the Bottom instead of the top as with Pro-gripper.

We use a plastic carrier. Works well for us. It is like a handle and arm extender. It was cheap. Under $20. Just used it yesterday. No issues with material. Use it a few times and you'll get the hang of it. --172.56.xx.xxx

I am informed that we have both the cheap plastic one and the progripper. Yesterday while using the drywall lift we could only use one and not the other due to the design of the item. The plastic one is not only cheaper but more versatile. --172.56.xx.xxx
