This is from the local Health Department.

"The numbers of people listed under active, recovered, died and hospitalized do not equal the number of detected cases because a person could be counted in more than one category as they battled the disease, such as being hospitalized and recovering."

More proof that the numbers are inaccurate. --73.120.xx.xxx

And to add to that confusion, deaths do not necessarily mean that they died of COVID, but they were COVID positive when they died.

Personally, I'm only interested in deaths and hospitalizations. The rest is just background noise. --108.69.xxx.xxx

On the local news channel when they are talking about COVID things, they have a background screen that says "Facts Not Fear". How funny.

Is that intentional subliminal messaging? --73.120.xx.xxx

"I'm only interested in deaths and hospitalizations. The rest is just background noise." True to a degree. Except that the asymptomatic could be spreaders, so testing IS important, I guess. --50.82.xxx.xxx

Our local numbers are a running total for the entire year. It's updated daily. The most recent numbers from 11/30 look like this---

Local Hospital -Tested-375; Positive-62; Negative-305; Pending-6; Repeat Positive-2

Local Clinic – Tested - 289; Positive –76; Negative –212; Pending-0; Repeat Positive-1

Clinic in Another County – Tested –49; Positive – 4; Negative – 45; Pending –0

The numbers from Halloween look like this--

October 31, 2020-COVID-19 RESULTS...

Local Hospital -Tested-293; Positive-50; Negative-241; Pending-1; Repeat Positive-1

Local Clinic – Tested - 220; Positive –56; Negative –159; Pending-4; Repeat Positive-1

Clinic in Another County – Tested –43; Positive – 1; Negative – 42; Pending –0

So, they've had 12 positives in the local hospital, 20 positives at the local clinic, and 3 positives at the clinic in another county over the entire month of November.

But they don't bother to break it down like that. They don't say, "We had 12 positives, and all 12 of them are better now." Or even, "We had one death back in May, but it was an elderly New Yorker who was sick and dying even before he got to our town. Everyone else has gotten better." Or even, "We had 12 positives for the month of November, and all 12 are healthy enough to get through it at home, and everyone's recovered, so now there are 0 active cases."

It's just random data that isn't attached to any meaningful context. Looking back, they haven't even bothered to keep up the "death" statistic, because it has been unchanged for over six months. --137.118.xx.xxx

I worked in the Nuclear industry a long time. We used Independent Verification and Validation for critical data. The input data is checked by a independent 2nd party for input error, accuracy of data and confirmation that the data conforms to system requirements.

What we have now days is no checking, multiple inaccuracies and No data integrity. Garbage in - Garbage out. --99.197.xxx.xxx

I was looking at a local list of cases in municipalities. One VERY small town in my area had what looked like a rather large number of cases. I read the fine print and it said something along the lines of ... adjusted per population or some other sort of jibberish --72.70.xxx.xxx

It is fairly trivial to determine the actual number of deaths because of the pandemic by looking at "excess deaths" compared to previous year averages. Basically, about the same number of people die each year from various causes. We can look at a graph from each of the previous 10+ years and get a fairly steady/normal view of what happens each year.

So you look at those years compared to THIS year -- and you can easily gauge "excess deaths" -- meaning more people dying this year than "normal."

Those "excess deaths" numbers are pretty clearly over 300,000 in the USA. (Official Covid-19 deaths in the USA is only at 269,000 right now.)

In other words, the ACTUAL number of deaths related to this pandemic are probably somewhat UNDER reported. The reality is that people are dying because of this -- like 300,000+ people in the USA and 1.5MM worldwide. And the stats make that pretty obvious to see from a scientific viewpoint.

The US poor response to the virus is a cause of more people losing their homes and businesses closing. If we had a better response I submit those losses would be less and we would have less downstream effects. --50.5.xxx.xxx

Oh ya it's was a poor response! Closing businesses, churches, stopping seed sales, canceling Easter, Thanksgiving and probably Christmas. Just a circus.

Just 2 weeks to flatten the curve, 8 months ago. Portland protests OK, yet Kate Brown wants you to call the cops of your neighbors eating turkey! Hahahaha, zero credibility, the lot of them. --70.44.xxx.xx

For folks in general, chances of dying from this China virus are next to nothing. About 1 in 500 (.02 percent). This is just ridiculous. Fools screaming about how dangerous this is and warning everyone to stay home. Don't go anywhere...

For those 70 and over, their chances of death are increased most definitely. But what are we doing? We are willing to implode the entire world's economy because the death rate of those who catch the virus (if over the age of 70) is proportionally high. Insane.

It's very simple. If you are older and/or for some reason at higher risk, stay away from people as much as possible. Ask for assistance. Volunteers are everywhere. If you are not, then limit visits to older and compromised folks and take extra precautions when around them. This is not rocket science. As a society, are we really this foolish?

The fallout from depressions, suicides, mental anguish from solitude, greatly increased divorces, long-term medical deaths and problems from people not getting normal medical screenings, businesses going BK, politicians using this as an excuse to control the masses, etc, etc, etc...

Zero common sense equals horrible decision-making ability. --73.25.xx.xxx
