Some of the extreme left wing tenancy advocates chairs actually own their houses thanks to generous government subsidies. On the one hand they talk about affordable housing where a tenant told me one group is receiving half a million a year in government subsidies where providing for a handful of people with half million a year is not affordable housing. How do homeowners actually know anything about running a rental building or rental houses. There is a large credibility gap here. There needs to be a focus on making sure the news media does some research before printing articles or going on tv. Tenancy advocates here wanted the city to bring in emergency powers where the landlord and tenant act is a provincial responsibility not municipal. Why not have people move into the houses the chairs own at the tenancy advocate group then have people live for free with free utilities then see if they would tolerate this free for all. In order to have a serious economic recovery then a business that support local communities where labour and materials are bought locally then the business needs to have economic means to go that. Basic arithmetic one o one that housing and economic policies can not be determined by 0.01 per cent of the population who do not believe in the free enterprise system. As business group those people with extreme views need to be challenge what goes into the media to prove what the reality is not some pie in sky system that never works. The number one priority is the economy where in four years if the economy is bad the government is voted out.
