State Specific Question About: MASSACHUSETTS (MA)
I owe back taxes for the years 2019 and 2020. At what point will the town start action for a tax sale or put in up for auction?
This is my Mothers' house and she passed away recently. I can't put in up for sale in June 2021 because of some other issues.

Al,
you won't get more answers by repeatedly asking the same question. What are the issues preventing sale? Probate? --107.141.xx.xxx |

You may as well contact your town and ask them. Often, if the property is going to be sold in the near future, they will give you some time to complete the sale. --23.30.xx.xxx |

If her estate sells the house and the money from the sale stays in the estate, there's nothing that should hold it up.
Assuming back taxes are property taxes, if your county is in need of money, then they'll start beating the bushes everywhere there's potential cash to be gained. --108.69.xxx.xxx |

In my state you should be receiving notices of such, Tax Sales. Anyway to get it paid up? Or sold and pay at closing out of profits? Would be sad to loose it to tax sale, check your mail. Call your county seat for 1st hand information. --172.58.xx.xxx |

It varies by town. Go to the tax department and ask them. --73.16.xxx.x |
