We were all on the family group chat, and my sister zapped me a photo of a bookmark she'd stuck in a book and had come across earlier in the day. It was a slip of paper with some handwritten notes on it, and it started out---
"Gratitude makes you think outside yourself-- it gives you an appreciation for the efforts of others, the gifts of others, their endurance and love for you..."
And I thought that was kind of a nifty thought. Gratitude really is not just "gosh I'm thankful for all this good stuff I have", but it's an active appreciation that brings you outside yourself, and makes you pay attention to that which is alive and around you--- whether it's your place in your family, your place in time and space, how you benefit from the existence of others around you, and how others benefit from your existence. It's an appreciation of the opportunities you've been given-- whether it's business opportunities that result in reclaiming a crummy house and now a total stranger gets a nice place to live their life; or sharing your life opportunities with your own inner circle; or something in between. --137.118.xx.xxx |

RE helped me earn my FREEDOM!!! to retire at age 41.
Free to raise my kids in person. Free to pay cash for 3 college grads. (Tip: It's not 4 years any more!)
My income and net worth has been increasing since.

DURING our t/giving dinner--- I leaned across to my wife and took her hand and said I LOVE YOU. Thank you.
