I received an e-mail from a tenant whose bike was stolen last night. First, please note that the building has free locked bike storage,
I go to the video and see that he parks his bike outside with no lock at around 5:00. Three HOURS later a guy comes by, grabs the bike, and rides off into the night. I was as smooth as silk.
I feel bad for laughing as I watched the video. (Not really).
A bike unlocked, in the central part of a city, at night... Would it be stolen? Um, the amazing thing is that it lasted so many hours!
It reminded me of those Twinztv bike pranks where they tie bikes on hills to things and the watch when they get stolen and thief goes flying when the rope gets tight. Well, the first half, anyway. :)
Tenants...

You can lead them to water, but you can't make them purchase a $5 lock for a $500-$2,000 bike.
Tenant wasn't expecting you to replace it or compensate him, correct? --107.216.xxx.xxx |

Many of my tenants will not lock their bicycles and in time get stolen. One of my tenants had a $2000 electric bicycle and a $10 lock....It got stolen too! --47.155.xx.xxx |

What kinda car does he drive and are the keys left inside of it too?
You can absolutely get away with that over here as it is expected. But in a city....not so much --24.101.xxx.xx |
