New phrase I just learned on an RE group on FB: Tortious interference, also known as intentional interference with contractual relations, in the common law of torts, occurs when one person intentionally damages someone else's contractual or business relationships with a third party causing economic harm.

Do you think that is what the govt is doing when they say we cannot evict non payers? --75.7.xx.xx

We're the speaking in general or referring to a specific case? If it's specific and moratorium related, can you donate to the legal team? --70.44.xxx.xx

It was not specific. I believe it is moratorium related. The person was just saying they had just learned the phrase. And now so have you and I.

If someone were to do a class-action civil suit, this might be the name of the case law behind it? --50.82.xxx.xxx

That is an awesome phrase of the day. I think the moratorium is unlikely to fall under this because the interference has to be “ improper”. --75.133.xxx.xx

You could make the case, maybe, that such blanket moratoriums without access to the courts at all for specific decisions, *is* improper.

FWIW, for us right now it's an academic argument. We collected more rent this month than in any month ever before. Brought a new unit online, people moved and rents went up...ONE tenant is behind, but she has paid 3/4ths of her full rent in smaller chunks and I'm fine with that.

But of course expenses have not stopped. Had to replace a drainfield at one house - our normal guy two months behind - used a recommendation of his - twice the price ouch but he got it done.

Need a roof at one of our cottages. It's just time. When it rains, it's raining inside :( Waiting on roof guy!

Our own roof has some really suspicious rippling on the north side. Don't know what it is. Waiting on roof guy!

Don't know what we'd do if our tenants stopped paying. These are repairs that just can't wait for the sake of the properties, not the Tenants. --50.82.xxx.xxx

Wifey makes a tasty raspberry tort. 3 layers of goodness.

I interfere with a big spoon.

Would the raspberry tort be considered an attractive nuisance? I've stated dropping hints about a pecan pie this Tgiving, with a pumpkin pie of course. Some traditions run too deep. --108.69.xxx.xxx

torts & contracts are civil matters. tortious interference is not new concept. I prefer raspberry & rhubarb pie. --72.180.xx.xxx

I feel like the raspberry tort walks a very fine line between attractive nuisance and “ clear and present danger”. --75.133.xxx.xx
