I had to remove the base trim from two bedrooms due to water intrusion from cracks on outside of house, that damaged trim (there was mold on wall behind them when removed).
When the tile was originally installed years ago, the installer left the trim in place (resting on the slab) and tiled up against the trim, leaving a grout line along the trim. When I put my new trim in I put it on top of the tile and now there are unsightly gaps in some places where the grout broke off underneath.
Is putting show molding in just these two bedrooms to hide the gaps a good idea or would that look weird? The only other alternative I can think of is to try to find the original grout color that was used (if it is still available) and fill in those gaps with that grout. Thanks. --72.188.xxx.xxx |

I would put shoe molding. I wouldn't worry that it's only in the bedrooms. --23.30.xx.xxx |

John,
I almost always put base and shoe on all solid flooring. I also put it on carpet flooring in rentals properties--shoe is cheaper than chair rail and helps to keep furniture of the walls just like chair rail. --205.223.xxx.xx |

and fill in the gaps with that grout". --199.192.xxx.x |

If you want it to look a bit nicer use some PVC scotia moulding & pin nail it to the existing baseboard --71.174.xxx.xx |
