A friend owned a large apartment complex on a raised foundation. It had around 4 foot clearance in the crawl space. Built around 1910.
When I'd go under the building to do plumbing repairs, always there was a problem with the old galvanized water lines and the cast iron drain pipes. For 15 years I'd get a call every few months about a problem with the plumbing system.
Finally I asked the owner if she got sick to her stomach each time the manager called with a plumbing issue. She replied yes, it's killing her.
So I then offered to replace all of the hot and cold water lines with copper and the cast iron drain pipes with ABS plastic pipes. I'd guarantee my work and the materials for 5 years, offering a "bond".
She thought about it. Each time the phone rang and the called id was her manager, her heart would skip a beat and a hair on her head would turn gray.
With all new hot and cold water pipes and ABS plastic drain line, with lot's of clean outs, she would no longer fear phone calls from tenants, mangers or guests.
I got the job. In about 1 week the job was finished. A year later I asked her about the "Cost" vs the results.
She said this was the best money ever spent. No more water leaks, drain pipe leaks and repairs. Pay the money once and the nightmare is over....
She asked me what she could do to make my day? I said there's new tool at Home Depot I've been keeping my eye on....She said buy it and I'll pay you back. I said, but you didn't even ask the price...She responded that any price with okay because having the weight lifter off of her shoulders was well worth it..
So I spent the money and then showed her what she giving me for making he life easier. It was a special saw with a rotation head, a hole $199 on sale... She said, wow only $200 to make you happy? Yes and it too her $12,000 to make her real estate nightmare into a dream property....
Money can work for you if you let it....
