Just sitting here wondering about this eviction ban.

We cant evict because it will leave tenants homeless. They will spread this virus being homeless.

Why then are not everyone of the homeless people across the country being found a free place to live since they our in the community spreading this virus because the are homeless? Hmmmmm

If they spread disease by being kicked out of their house, why are they allowed to wander around in public and go grocery shopping and to stroll in the park. Apparently, they aren't spreading that way. Why do they not spread in the park when they have a house and they do spread in the park when they don't have a house.

If having a house is what keeps people safe, why aren't we all in lock down?

Donna, the homeless are being put up in motels. But the motels don't have to house them for free. --76.178.xx.xx

San Diego has a HUGE homeless population and when the Pandemic began, they opened up our Convention Center and housed over 1300 of them there. They rounded them up from everywhere, on the streets, in the river bottoms (encampments) and used helicopters to announce the availability of free food and board and medical, and everything else and then transported them to the convention center. Some still are resistant, but now San Diego City is trying to buy two huge Hotels at about $11 million to move the homeless out of the center to individual rooms. It was supposed to stop the spread of the virus and now we are stuck with thousands of homeless being supported on our tax dollars. Might as well advertise all over the US that San Diego offers free room and board, medical, counselors, clothing, haircuts, etc. for anyone who wants it. Not to mention our eviction ban which runs through Jan 31 (so far until they change that). They even tried 'bribing' single family homeowners to take in the homeless with something akin to the Section 8 program. Some support money to the homeowner, and promise of assistance in other ways, but it didn't go over well. It's hard enough to screen possible Tenants without worrying that the city will just force you to take whoever they decide. Very depressing. --72.199.xx.xxx

Because the homeless eat out of trash cans, live in urine, feces, and all sorts of filth. They probably have a super immunity to disease. --108.69.xxx.xxx

While the pandemic is event that is going to change everything they do not go down to local grocery store or ask any business to provide something for free. Rent control did not work which was supposed to bankrupt private sector rental housing providers. No matter who owns housing where housing is always going to be expensive. A private sector owner can not run small apartment building with a $100,000 operating loss per year along not paying the combined harmonized sales tax of 13 per cent on materials and labour. Alcoholism along with some that have mental health issues needs to be solved first. Governments in the past keep people in institutions. The extreme leftists vilify private sector rental housing then government should use the funding to help tenants not leftist people who buy houses for themselves. Was at the HD store today where a government repair housing van was sitting there with a person texting for over three hours where that would not happen in the private sector where repairs would done by owner or contracted out. Was in Germany for three weeks in 2018 where at the railway station in Kiel there people on the street where alcoholism in Germany is problem where buying a beer costs a Euro which is less then a soft drink, bottled water or orange juice. One spoke very good English without a German accent where ask for a few Euros where that is going to used to buy alcohol. Four Euros buys a good bottle of white wine. The damage that is doing to the economy which is not going to help the economy recover. First of all rental housing buy goods and services locally not the third world. --147.194.xxx.xx

Moving all the homeless from their scattered little camps and concentrating them all in one building all at the same time, sounds a lot like someone hoped that they would all get infected, die, and solve the homeless problem. --76.178.xx.xx

Yep, Oregon Woodsmoke, we all thought the infection rate would skyrocket in the Convention Center. Guess what? Only TWO of the 1300 tested positive. One before he even got inside after going outside for a little while, and another a month later. Each was moved and there were no major outbreaks. Amazing huh? Makes you wonder what was different from other groups? Seems all the major outbreaks around here are in nursing homes, restaurants, bars, and now schools, which are reopening to group learning on a small scale. Someone should study what they all have in common other than just being together. --72.199.xx.xxx

Sorry Robin, should have said Schools in San Diego County in California. I'm sure it's different in different cities and different states. Local private secondary school just opened last week and closed again due to 120 cases of kids and 4 teachers. San Diego State has a lockdown for this weekend due to increase in cases. Mostly due to off campus parties. Elementary schools around here are so far not opening to group learning and most of our schools are still doing 'distance' learning or a combination of home and classroom and the on site is voluntary. --72.199.xx.xxx
