Little old lady died many years ago. Her heirs let the house sit vacant for years and years and years while they argued over whether to keep it or sell it. We bought it in 2014. None of our tenants have been magic gardeners with green thumbs, and the yard is awful and not just full of weeds, but full of stickerburrs. So I finally broke down and hired a yard care service to come in for weed control.

It's 6 treatments per year. We need to mow with a bag prior to the application. And we need to water the yard if we don't get natural precipitation within 10 days post-treatment.

The lot is bigger than a quarter-acre. There are no built-in sprinklers. So if I needed to hook a hose up to a sprinkler a few times a year and drag it around and water the lot--- what's everyone's favorite sprinkler style? They don't seem to sell the style I grew up with back in the day, and I suspect sprinkler technology has improved since then... :)

I use Rain birds but you must limit the number of sprinklers based on you water pressure for each zone. For that size area you might need 8 or 10 zones. An irrigation store can help you. They go full circle, 1/4, 1/2 and any configuration. --89.45.xx.xxx

I use the little tractor. It waters a pretty wide swath while moving from 1 side of the yard to the other under its own power. --107.141.xx.xxx

For large areas, I use this tall rainbird type sprinkler. The sprinkler head is up on a pole, about 4 feet high. It covers a very large area of ground.

I bought my first ones from a local farm supply house. When those had freeze damage that I couldn't repair, I found the same sprinkler on Amazon. You won't find them in the average open to the public store.

Not cheap, but good sprinklers are not cheap and these will save you some work, since they cover more ground and don't have to be moved as often. --76.178.xx.xx

I went to Amazon and the garden section and searched for tall sprinkle. A bunch of them came up.

The ones I use are green and have a tripod base. Water goes in the bottom of the pole and comes out at the sprinkler head. --76.178.xx.xx
