State Specific Question About: VIRGINIA (VA)
My tenants are unable to pay rent. How can I secure assistance money? --67.166.xxx.xx |

I would say that is the responsibility of your tenants, not you. A simple Google search will turn up resources that you can provide to your tenants. They will need to initiate the request, though. --104.230.xxx.xx |

Check needhelppayingbills.com and see if there are any resources in your area you can share with your tenants. Many churches have programs to help people facing eviction. --70.178.x.xx |

Most areas of the country use 211. Similar to 911, 211 is for non emergency help and services. You can just dial 211 or look at 211.org --64.130.xx.xxx |

My lazy tenants who choose not to work or pay rent asked me to provide to them the list of Governmental Programs for Rent Assistance. I'd be a fool to provide such a list to them! Why? Because if I accept a one time payment from these agencies, I agree not to evict the tenant for 6 months.
Instead I have to contact their Church for a hand out... --47.155.xx.xxx |

Yes, United Way. I sent one of the tree guys there and he must have gotten help because I didn't hear from him again. --71.104.xx.xxx |

There are many ways for a tenant to get help including churches and United Way, when you interview them in eviction court ask the status of those applications directly to the tenant if they have an atty with them - the court should allow you to cross examine under oath over the atty these details and if they have failed to follow up on the 2 required by the CDC you will ask the court to move the eviction forward as if the Covid19 was not in the picture whatsoever. --76.188.xxx.xxx |
