We have a sfh that is on a corner lot. We had a berm put in a few years ago to keep vehicles and kids on bikes from continually running over the yard on the side street (had evergreens there for many years that went over in a bad storm), and to give our tenants some privacy when the prickly shrubs that we planted on top matured.
I was at the property for a maintenance visit in August, and spotted a kid riding a minibike, running up and over the end of the berm. When he came whizzing back later, I gave a friendly wave and attempted to stop him to talk (not yell). He, of course, took off. I don't know where he lives, but minibikes are illegal on the roads.
I went back yesterday, and found that he has done this so much, the berm's groundcover is losing foliage in that area. To add insult to injury, someone had allowed their big dog to poop three times along the edge of the berm (poop bags are on a post, 10' away, provided by the HOA). This happens all the time there, and I don't get too agitated, because it doesn't hurt the groundcover, and is only a problem for me if I'm mulching or weeding.
I told my hubby, who is clever with solutions to issues. He put the two issues together, and his evil genius solution? Go over at night with gloves and trowels, pick up any dog poop that we find, and put it right in the path of the minibike. It might just work, especially if the do-do is good and wet!
And it might keep the kid and minibike off of the berm until he is old enough to drive and leave the bike in the garage. Time will tell! --96.227.xxx.xxx |

Just make the street facing side of the berm steeper and have a small moat along the base of the berm. --108.69.xxx.xxx |

call in the C-130 gun ship. Dump everything on your POD. Couple of well place Frags would work-- pungee sticks-- oh that always gets um-- especially if they fall off the dirt bike. --99.103.xxx.xxx |

Poop Patrol!
I remember a story about a farmer with a similar problem. He dumped a pile of fresh wet manure' in the troubled location.

@LLOTF - Yes! A moat with alligators - wait, this is PA, not FL.
@ Bill - had to look up sand spurs. Won't grow in PA, and they're really hard to get rid of. But they sound great for a problem like this.
@myob - believe me, if it weren't for the little kids in the neighborhood, we'd go with something a little more destructive. The do-do will at least wash off if some little kid blunders into it on foot.
@Brad - sounds like we might be on the right track! --96.227.xxx.xxx |

As a contractor and owner of rentals I specialize in getting even tactics.
I first look up the codes on building a fence and restricting traffic, people, bicycles and motorized scooters.
I then post legal signs that are illuminated so at night anyone can read them -- telling everyone to keep off and out...
Then I put up fence posts, marking the boundary. Then I put up a fence...
Someone has cut out sections of my chain link fence to make way for their access across my lot to cut through to the alleyway.
So I repaired the fence and rented a junk yard dog on a chain. Anyone who cut the fence and walked onto that side of my property, met with a Cujo type of dog..... --47.155.xx.xxx |

He’ll just drive right threw the crap and not even care, or he’ll make a new “path” and be sure to burn a few donuts in your yard for getting $hit on his tires! --174.196.xxx.xx |

Will the HOA allow you to put decorative boulders along the berm, can’t ride over a rock, and they look nice when landscaped in properly. --174.196.xxx.xx |

I have used animal poo to keep gangs off of a corner. I think that will work fine and it's all right there "at hand" so to speak. --71.104.xx.xxx |

Wilma - with a post name like this and you being from Pa I thought you were referencing a Netflix series that aired a few years back called Evil Genius. It was about the craziness of Pizza Bomber Robbery over in Erie. BTW- I recommend it
Back to your topic - I am thinking your bike rider will be getting a surprise on the back of their shirt if there is no mud guard --24.101.xxx.xx |
