Someone in the "Condotel" asked about what is happening to
hotels. Starting a new thread so I'm not hijacking the other one.
I used a large hotel's parking this week (same one used for the MrLL convention!) and shuttled to the airport. Parking lot was deserted. The front desk guy told me he had 3 (three!!) check-ins that night. Only the FedEx pilots were keeping the hotel open.
On the other hand, we have an addition on our house with its own entrance that we've turned into a self-contained Airbnb. I opened it up for mid-September as our Chinese students headed off to college. We have been at 90% occupancy for September and are already 75% booked for October. I think there's a perception that they're safer from COVID/bedbugs/rioters. I'd guess that's true. Anyone have similar experience?

We have an Inn that is closed to the public and has been rented in entirety for the local private high school as additional dorm space so every child has there own room. I know several MA colleges have also rented out hotels as dorm space to lessen the number of students per room or dorm.
My husband has had 1 or 2 business trips recently. Hotels are empty but even so, cleaning is not as thorough. Either they can’t afford their usual staff numbers or they can’t get people to come to work. Coffee shops in lobbies are closed so he now will start choosing hotels by different criteria. --107.77.xxx.xx |

I don't really know what the occupancy rate is, but almost every hotel around here has help wanted signs up. I am assuming they would not be hiring if their rooms are sitting empty.
There was no reduction in our holiday crowd this year. There were license plates from all over the western states and the highway traffic was bumper to bumper. --76.178.xx.xx |

I work for hotel co. I can tell you all the brands have implemented strict protocols. these are expensive. I am not sure a mom & pop running an airbnb will be spending the $ to keep their properties as safe as they should be. We have used airbnb many times so is not a plug for hotels, but I can tell you we just stay in brand hotels right now on our trips. --72.180.xx.xxx |

We stayed at an AirBnb in June that our kids gave us as an anniversary gift. We didn't cancel because the owner of the unit owns a cleaning company - which includes doctor's offices and labs. She moved her check-out/check-in times from two hours apart to four hours apart to allow for the extra sanitizing. Your mileage may vary, though! --96.227.xxx.xxx |

I think you did the right thing, even better with UV-C in one of the vents to that space, I have 2 air-bnb right around the corner with ozone on demand and UV-C in the treated air system 1 for hospital staff other for the few airline staff left, there are over 50 capped passenger jets around the perimeter of the airport here. --76.188.xxx.xxx |
