I'm looking for a 30" bathroom vanity cabinet that will still look good after 20 years. It seems HD and lowes only sell vanities made from particle board. When you read the review for these vanities, it seems like they are junk.

My bathroom is gutted now, so I don't have time to order something. I'm just looking for a well made vanity that I can buy "off the shelf" and not have to pay $900 for a 30" vanity, from a place like pottery barn (I don't know if they're well made either)

Any ideas on where to buy a quality bathroom vanity, that I can get quick? Thank you! --71.187.xxx.xx

But if $900 is really what I need to pay for a well made 30" bath vanity, I'll do it. --71.187.xxx.xx

I need two for our condo in OBX, just went online at Ferguson's and they have nice ones. Poplar wood with hardwood veneer for around 500+. for 30". They have a store near our condo, the next time I go down I want to check out the showroom. --71.219.xx.xx

You say you want to buy off the shelf, but are there no local cabinetmakers you can get a quote from?

When my MIL was doing her house, she had a cabinetmaker do all her bath and kitchen cabinetry, and the pricing was very competitive. --137.118.xx.xxx

Thanks Pat. I didn't see Ferguson's, I saw Ferguson without the s and they looked to carry some quality vanities. There's one not too far away from me. I did have to request an account, to see prices and such, and they said it may take up to 72 hours, so we'll see.

Deanna, this was one of those jobs where I only planned to replace a shower stall and next thing you know, the place is gutted and now I'm scrambling to get the fixtures and a vanity for the 5 x 9 3/4 bath. So I don't have time, i don't think to be working with a cabinetmaker. But thank you!

hint with off the shelf-- watch out where the draws are. Had 3 we put in that draws hit plumbing.

I got a good laugh -- something that will still look good after 20 years??? -- yea never rent the place out! --99.103.xxx.xxx

I agree with DEANNA. Check with the local cabinet makers - most of the time when you pay a little more you get a little more.

I have picked up solid wood vanities at Habitat for Humanity or flea markets - new top and repaint - looks good. --184.63.xxx.xx

Ikea sells bathroom vanities where Ikea uses metric dimensions where well try to get to 30" width. There is also a lot of assembly as the vanity comes in boxes. --147.194.xxx.xx

Myob, thanks on the drawer plumbing interference warning.

As far as looking good after 20 years, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I doubt a pressboard piece of furniture in a bathroom with a shower would look too good to anyone after some age.

Thank you Robert!! I use ikea for other things but never thought about bath vanities. I see they use a lot of pine in their vanity construction, and that seems good. I had a shoe cabinet from Ikea that looked great for a long time. Only my cat pee killed it. But Ikea vanities are quite interesting to me.

And just saw this on you tube: HD How To Avoid Vanity Scams | How Not To Buy Vanity. Basically the guy says the HD vanity particle board construction should not be in the bathroom, but the counters are a good deal. --71.187.xxx.xx

Built it. Also we have started putting little rubber screw on feet on the vanities just to raise them up off the floor ever so slighty. Hoping to extend the life. Once we pickup a old computer desk hutch on the curb for trash and built a vanity front out of it! Be creative. Old dresser? Once saw an Old bike vanity. Also the old sewing machine cabinets. Pinterest shoukd have lots of creative ideas. --99.203.xxx.xx

The Home Decorators Collection at Home Depot is better quality. Also, my customers really liked the Naples model (by Foremost?) available online. Ship to store is usually a week to 10 days. Might be different now though. --71.161.xxx.xxx

You might check into RTA (ready to assemble) cabinets. We just ordered a kitchen full of cabinets from MFS Supply. They cater to rental properties. We got full plywood boxes, full overlay doors, and soft-close doors for the price of the cheapest HD cabinets.

Plenty, at first I didn’t understand the vanity feet, but now I get it. Keep the vanity above the flood line:-) And I think you and me think different. I really just want to find something that fits in my layout, looks good, functions well over time and I just want to drive 10 minutes load it in my suv, then drive it over to the rental for the handyman to put it in. But don’t get me wrong, I salute your creativity.

Thank Nellie, actually I was interested in one of the home decorators collection at HD, but the cabinet material is particle board according to the website specifications. Turns out, I was at Lowes today and it seems like some of their vanities have plywood cabinets. There are a lot of bad reviews for the lowes cabinets, but I may just call it a day with one of theirs. Thanks.

Nancy, I’m on this obsessive quest to find a vanity without pressboard and I didn’t see any at Amazon that I could get in a few days. If you can wait a couple of weeks, different story. Thank you.

I've used STOCK h-depot cabinets-- big mistake -- they are junk - chip and cheap particle board.

We started using H-depot woodmark brand. We order the minute we get the rehab back cause it takes 20 days for delivery--VERY VERY HAPPY with quality and honestly for the look the price is great. Each house takes about 10 kit cabinets and around 1800 to 2000. Not including tops. They run about 100 to 145.00 each --99.103.xxx.xxx

You are a better planner than me, myob. I'm needing my vanity this week. But good to know when I become a better planner, that the H-depot woodmark brand is a good way to go. Thanks!

But PS. some of the stock lowes vanities are plywood, I think. --71.187.xxx.xx

Cabinets to go has one for $282 including tax. All wood no particle board. SKU number us VSB30WH for a 30 inch width. It takes about a week to order and get and you will need to assemble it. You can buy a much more expensive one from home centers that would be particle board. --76.125.xxx.xxx
