If I do a 1031 exchange, my residential rental into another one, how long is it that I have to rent it out before I can move in & not have tax problems? Can't recall. In this case, I don't want to do ~50% capital gains in cashing out of a duplex. Daydreaming of exchanging into a rental w/ a boat dock (boat slip home is true goal) then waiting a couple of years & moving in....
