Late On Rent? Landlord Removes Tenant's Doors And Windows
Tensions between landlords and tenants may have reached a tipping point in Maple Ridge, a city located in the northeastern section of Greater Vancouver, where one landlord, fed up with his tenant missing a couple of months of rent, removed all of the doors and most of the windows from the rental unit, reported CTV News.
"We were short rent the month of July and my landlord has decided to come in when I wasn't home and remove all of the windows, and doors, on the exterior and the interior," said Hemson.
CTV News was at the house on Saturday when the landlord, Tiger Zhang, showed up. He said, "I think if she moves out it's better and won't give me too much trouble."

In 1989 an apartment in an 8 unit building was sub-letting sleeping space by the hour. Three shifts, 6 to 8 hours each -- a total of 24 boarders. The occupants refused to answer the door.
I had the owner post a 24 hour notice. I came by and picked the locks, passage and deadbolt. But someone installed another lock without permission. I then shouted, "stand back, I'm going to saw the door open"! With a battery powered Makita 3-3/8" carbide saw blade I cut open a 2' x 3' hole in the door. I made the cut just shy of the thickness of the door panel. Then with a drywall saw made the final cut.
The occupants were hiding like roaches when you suddenly turn on the light. There were 12 people hiding in the closet.
I then asked the owner, "Ellen, is the Police or Immigration showing up first"? She replied, there were supposed to be there by now!
Off ran away all of the occupants. I then screwed on to the door slats of 1" x 4" lumber, just spaced apart enough that we any could peek and look inside.
The jug was up, no one wanted to sub-let a bed for a few hours if immigration was expected.
So sometimes, NOT VERY OFTEN, you have to fight fire with fire. I was the contractor and the owner had complaints. We posted a 24 hour notice which gave us the right to enter..The tenants blocked the door so I let ourselves in anyways.. --47.155.xx.xxx |

I remember years ago my dad used to take the front door "for repairs" to motivate the deadbeat types to pay. Couldn't do this today in Commmiefornia. This LL went overboard - you can explain away one door or window taken "for repairs" but not all of them --201.140.xxx.xx |
