Just got a deal on a home, hoarder had so much stuff that after clearing a path I did find a stand up piano in the corner. Does anyone take them I would like to give it away before loading in the dumpster. --70.158.xxx.xx

Put a ad on Craigslist or other websites for free. Also contact charities like the restore and other charities as many charities require donations. Often when clearing a rental unit what can be donated is separated out then what is not usable is garbage. landfills will have limited space. Some websites have a wanted list where people want things. --147.194.xxx.xx

No one around here will take them as donations anymore. You may have to charge her extra for getting rid of it, since you may have to demolish it to take it to the landfill. Hope you can find a taker.... --71.246.xxx.xxx

Depending on where you rental is located, my easiest way to get rid of almost anything without paying a dime is to drag it to the sidewalk and put very noticeable FREE signs all over. I've never had to take back anything and most times, all the junk is gone in about an hour or less. Maybe it's just my neighborhood, but people will take anything, even old tires, etc. FREE does it. Just about to put out an entire 'reconstituted wood' bedroom set, kitchen table and 4 chairs and misc stuff. It won't take long. Just have to drag it from the empty rental to the curb. --72.199.xx.xxx

If the keys are ivory then someone might take it. OTOH it costs $$ to move it and more $$ to tune it.

Craigslist for a week....then the dump. If there is a nice stool you might get 20 to 50 bucks forit --174.225.xxx.xx

just this past month I needed an upright piano removed. All kinds of folks want it since there was no charge. Not a single one of them showed up. I think when they start asking around for someone to help haul it, they realize it's not doable. --72.70.xxx.xxx

Homeschool network.

One of my homeschool family friends had 5 pianos for 6 kids in the house!! No TV, spend time on the piano!

2 of those kids won contests and played at Carnegie Hall! One majored in Piano Performance at college.

I have an ancient upright grand that I cherish. It's an absolute MONSTER to move, even across the room.

my Mom’s parents had a grand piano custom built for them in the 1930’s. ivory & ebony keys. not sure what we will do with it. local universities wouldn’t accept it as a gift bc the keys are not woke. --107.77.xxx.xxx

I wish you were closer, would like to have it for a new house I am building. I met a lady who has a piano hidden in her kitchen - the back is wall cabinets that match the kitchen, just turn it around to face the living room after cooking. --76.188.xxx.xxx

Good luck with getting rid of it, even for free. We have advertised ours 3 or 4 different times. We’ve had a couple of people say they were going to come get it but never show up. Eventually I’m calling a moving company to take it to the dump. Can’t even give it away. --71.161.xxx.xxx

We homeschooled our kids until they went to college, and none of our homeschool contacts wanted the piano. But maybe that will work in your area.

It just occurred to me to try checking with some local private piano teachers who might know of families who would want one. Maybe we can get rid of ours that way. --71.246.xxx.xxx

Good luck.

We got one to use as a photo prop. I had to disassemble it, take all the "guts" out and rig the "box" to be portable. Still heavy. Our "free" piano cost $150 to get someone to move it to our garage so I could take it apart. Luckily a storm washed our prop away after a photo shoot so I don't have to move it again, but thats another story.

We have a second one sitting on the porch now that I will eventually turn into a bar. Look up "piano made into a bar". Other crafty projects include taking the harp out of them and making tables.

Regardless they weigh a TON and you will need help to move it. I suggest getting it moved out of the house so the floors don't get damaged when your Free piano gets picked up. --137.119.xxx.xx

You can't get rid of them. Even for free. Put it in the dumpster while you have it.

People buy digital keyboards and digital piano's these days. Much lighter and more versatile. --128.107.xxx.xxx

Too late now, but whenever a hot tub, pool table or piano is listed as conveying, we say "No it doesn't. Has to be removed before we will close." We've learned our lesson! He has chopped up more than one hot tub, we've given away pool tables with difficulty and wouldn't even touch a piano - they are all electronic nowadays anyway. --50.82.xxx.xxx
