I had been using Ring Central for Efax services for several years but yesterday I canceled them for good. Their automatic renewals and drastic price increases got to be too much. It took me 4 days of chat boxes to get to a real human but I did it. In the beginning it was reasonable about $50 a year for 500 fax pages a month sending/receiving but the price crept up in big increments and this year the wanted $230 and I said no way. I didn't have to have a second phone line or a fax machine, so it was convenient. Most institutions have gone away from fax and now use email or secure gateways to transmit documents. I guess if I really need to fax, I can use my work's fax or the UPS store fax for $3 a page.

I dropped my efax service (can't remember which one) when it kept going up and up too. Only the government and some health agencies seem to require faxes these days, and I've found even the health agencies can be easily talked into email as they know the fax thing is ridiculous. --50.82.xxx.xxx

I have - and want to drop - ring central for the very same reasons.

But, I have a box of "sell your house" signs with that number. I should go put more out, and use them up! --70.160.xxx.xxx

Same here - we used RC fax for 10+ years, but honestly only for faxing releases to employers and landlords who require fax, so maybe 10-20 faxes per year? I even talked to their customer service could not get them to cut us a break. So, I researched and found SRfax and it will run $36 for an entire year. For the few times I have used it, it works just fine, and they were able to port our old fax number so we didn't have to reprint business cards, change headers in files, etc. --71.14.xxx.xxx
