We have coin laundries at each apartment location. One of the biggest chores is gathering quarters, bagging them up and shipping them off to the bank to be deposited. Anyone use coin changers in their laundries? Do they hold up well? I see some used ones for sale on FB Marketplace and thought starting with some used units to see if the residents use them might be helpful. Also, withe the “coin shortage,” we can offer this service to our residents so they don’t have to go “hunting” quarters! We could switch over to CC machines I suppose, but so far, our residents seem to be using the machines frequently.

I’ve only had 1 tenant not be able to find quarters. I will keep a months worth of rolled quarters on hand to trade for bills if needed. I collect them once a month and use a fast wrap coin counting tube to roll them in front of the tv. Doesn’t take me long to roll using the tube. --73.17.xx.xxx

I use coin counter machines in the markets, Coin Mach. They normally will charge a 9.9 percent fee, but instead I opt for the Store Gift Card a no fee. I get 100% of my counted coins.

They offer Home Depot, Lowe's, Amazon and other market gift cards... --47.155.xx.xxx

I do what Still Learning does. I was taking them down to my credit union which charged a 3 percent fee, but I couldn't get in there for a few months due to Covid. I wound up buying a coin counter that sorts and wraps. It doesn't take long to run everything through the counter. If necessary, I'll sell the coins back to tenants. --209.122.xx.xxx

If you look on you tube , there are video's about coin laundrys. One guy also has coin pusher game and soda vending machines. These seem to make pretty good money and are able to be bought used fairly cheap. It might be worth looking into to increase revenue. --172.222.xx.xxx

So far my tenants don't seem to have an issue finding quarters. I do keep about $100.00 worth of rolled quarters on hand to supply to my tenants if they request them. Three of the banks / credit unions that I do business with allow their customers to use their coin counter at no charge. --71.174.xxx.xx

In my area some fast food places are giving a free meal and a gift card for anyone who brings them coins. Coins are in short supply. --136.34.xxx.xxx

Since this whole coin shortage started during the pandemic some banks are getting creative. There is a bank in Wisconsin, Community State Bank, that is actually buying coins from consumers. They pay $5 per $100 up to a maximum of $500 for the bonus:) There are no charges for the transaction. Apparently banks across the country are only getting a small percentage of their weekly coin order. --68.104.xxx.xxx

My father had coin laundries and the laundries had change machines.

Those machines were a target for every doper and thief in the area. They were always trying to pry them open and damaging them in the process.

There was always someone claiming that they put their dollar in and the machine didn't give them their quarters. Those had to be refunded even though we all knew they were lying. --98.146.xxx.xxx
