Renter running Air BnB?

On a local facebook page a guy is asking to rent a furnished home. Another poster chimes in that the guy has Air BnB homes and that the poster lives near one of his homes. Poster did not comment further. How is it OK to rent a home from a LL and then rent it out as an Air BnB? This town is pretty difficult on rules so I wonder how he is getting away with this? Ordinances say that only college students can be unrelated persons in a rental. What do you suppose he is doing to make that work?

City officials are in covid mode so they may not know for quite awhile, hopefully the manager or owner has enough skills to tackle this in the lease and in person, I encountered it once about 7 years ago and the rent increase I imposed on the sub-leaser was not welcome, changed the locks that day for security reasons. --76.188.xxx.xxx

People that play these games are scammers.

They DON'T CARE ABOUT CITY RULES OR YOUR RULES!

They pocket the cash differences and don't report it.

Landlord needs clauses in their lease forbidding this, BUT TENANT DOES NOT CARE!

Police may or may not help. They may just say "it's a civil matter".

AllyM, your diligence uncovered this guy. You can report him to Air B&B, and they might close him down. Or maybe not.

As long as he stays under cover, the town authorities will not know of him and will not shut him down. Of course, you could report him to the town enforcement people as well.

i messaged the couple who outed him in the local Facebook group. I told them what they can do. He's kind of a "protected group" so they might overlook this. I read and re-read your post 3 times. I do not see where the Airbnb host is renting from a LL. You mention he has several.

For everyone's consideration, renting a home to rent it out on Airbnb is a legit business model AS LONG AS the LL understands you are doing this.

This is a hot topic method being promoted by several online teachers.

Me? I'd say split the profits with me!

Getting booted from Facebook has to do with the personal prejudices of the Facebook employee who reviews the statementd reported by another Facebook poster. If I say something anti Dem I get booted by someone who likes that Dem. I really criticized one Dem on his home page after he lied about the Pres. That got me a bad mark. Four bad marks later, I am banned for 7 days. This prevented me from helping a dog, helping a person, reporting wires down in a neighborhood and other good works. I just received a message from facebook about comments from others that I requested to be removed. They were from people trying to scam others into buying bit c o i n and I spread that out in case I can't write that here. Also selling other nonspecific products in the posting area. Again, I identified scammers to Facebook for selling something in an inappropriate way and place and they tell me that they DID NOT REMOVE THE COMMENTS. There is some group within Facebook that is exploiting Facebook to scam others and somehow they are invisible to facebook and not being handled.
