OK hit my thumb with a bigger hammer. Here goes with the latest "computer takes 12 hrs to re-boot". Yes I'm still waiting on my new HP Tower to be delivered cause I can't live like this. couldn't resist hitting my other thumb.

Yesterday at 3PM I decided to see if my computer was back to normal (see previous posts about updating) So I clicked on RESTART and update my machine. First message: monitor going to sleep mode. Til 7PM after many attempts at restart I did what I did last time and just left power on. John MI note: when turned on the computer red (power on) light stays on-- fans are whirling (2 of them) and little disk icon on front of tower flashes its symbol ever 2 or 3 seconds-- like it's thinking. Monitor goes into sleep mode and switch light goes from green to yellow.

So at 7PM I leave the computer on and lights are red and icon flashing. This morning at 630 I go to the office and move the mouse and screen lights up-- put in my master password and up and running.

Sorry about your computer...speed is everything these days.

A college buddy of mine tried being a landlord, but since he is a professional procrastinator, things didn't work out. He found a termite 25 years ago and put it on his to do list. Now his garage fell down due to termites.

The same friend is a computer genius. Worked on many top secret projects. But his personal computer was plugged into his wall socket when the power surged, and now he's computer is DOA.

Ten years ago I tried to explain that his house power wasn't properly grounded. And he never set up a surge suppressor or back up power supply.

Since you are a successful landlord and can use a good Tax write-off, treat yourself to a new computer and get the one you have fixed.....

When my mechanical drive started to give me trouble, I went to a Solid State Drive replacement and transferred everything over. The new drive was only $99. Now when I boot up my windows 10 computer, it only takes around 40 seconds....instead of 5-10 minutes... --47.155.xx.xxx

Once you have a bit of free time, download the second to newest version of linux and give it a look - you can toss it out if you don't like, I have lower CPU temps and quicker everything compared to MS stuff, I just got a new PC laptop for lead inspection work, win10 yucko... --76.188.xxx.xxx

Im getting ready to pull the trigger on a new PC laptop during sales tax holiday weekend.

I dread the learning curve with a new machine but the chrome book isn't cutting it.

Good luck with the new machine ! --137.119.xxx.xx

Robert J, That’s Extreme Procrastination! Wow! 25 years of termites?!?

I agree, the Solid State drives are much better. It’s not “if” your hard drive will fail, but “when”. The Solid State drives are much more durable.

I gave up on the laptops.l, since I was burning through them every two years. They just didn’t have enough power and space. Now that I went back to the desktops they’ve lasted 8+ years.

Good luck with your computer --45.131.xxx.xx
