Zillow is now charging $9.99/week to list a rental property in Ohio. Does anyone have recommendations for free listing services (other than craigslist)? Appreciate your help!! Phyllis --70.158.xxx.xx |

40.00per month is too much? Didja ever pay to advertise in newspapers? If so how much was that? --174.225.xxx.xxx |

Phyllis, I'm curious, did you have any success filling any vacancies with leads from Zillow? --70.161.xxx.xxx |

I would imagine that listing on as many other free websites as you can would eventually get you on Zillow anyways. Zillow is a very information hungry website.
So much so, that I'm really not interested in paying them to have any more info about my properties other than what's for rent and how much. I don't really care for them advertising how much I paid for the building, when I bought The building. How much I've rented them for, when they were on and off the market and how much the prices have dropped, etc.
I have bought properties privately that were never listed on the MLS in a very rural county and it didn't take too long for Zillow to find out how much I paid for them. I found it very weird considering how rural I am compared to other areas. I would imagine that the data will find its way to their website in short order. --174.198.xx.xxx |

Also, be prepared to start proving ownership too. I would imagine that's coming to some degree.
I ran into that not too long ago when I went to list a house owned by 2 LLC's. They refused to activate the listing without deed proof. I told them forget it. Next time I will just list it as one LLC regardless. None of their business. --50.107.xxx.xxx |

Zillow is up and down in my area.
3 years ago, nobody local used it.
Last turn over 15 months ago, It worked great.
This current turn over, Its not working well. I reply quickly to any inquiries with a short prescreen questionaire. 19 requests for showings and zero people have returned the questionaire. --137.119.xxx.xx |

Zillow started charging here months ago. Facebook Marketplace has pretty much replaced them here when they went to a fee based listing. --64.130.xx.xxx |

Zillow started charging here too. I had an active listing and went to add another. Couldn't without paying. That was the end of Zillow for me. I use Zumper and FB Marketplace. FB is the biggest lead generator for me by far. I think I was getting leads from Zillow, but not enough to start paying for it. --68.102.xxx.xxx |

Zillow had worked in the past for me but I hadn't received as many good leads as in the past. I still have two applications, both from Zillow (1 through Trulia), that might rent another home I will have available.
The current tenant for The last house I rented was found through a sign in the front yard of the home.
I am currently using Zumper but am not finding too much good out there either. I get quite a few prospects through the yard sign of that house because it is on a busy corner in a desirable neighborhood.
I tried apartments.com but I didn't get very many leads. Any some of the ones I received were in Spanish which I couldn't comprehend, so they didn't get a response. --99.165.xx.xxx |

As per Zillow's email is that the first listing for 30 days is free but if you renew or extended the listing will charged the fee.
There are still some states that are free. --72.199.xxx.xxx |

I think the zillow cost is more than Ohio, like vegatables in season - shift gears and keep seeking applicants to pass your criteria. --76.188.xxx.xxx |

We have used Zillow when it was free in the past without much success, so had not interest in paying for the service.
We have tried craigslist, but get many weird stuff from those listings, like someone from England wanting to redecorate an upstairs apartment and will send you $4,000, but you have to send them $$.
Our best source has been the local FB Buy/Sell/Trade groups and FB Marketplace. Plus we have FB pages for each of our rental companies. You can reach a lot of people on FB -- if a user on FB is not looking, they usually know someone who is and will share the post with them. --209.132.xxx.xxx |
