So my tenants of only a past few months, who have feel behind on rent, and damaged my property, are now conducting exorcisms on the property. These exorcisms are being filmed live on facebook by an "official:" spirit investigator company. I never had any knowledge of any of this, and this is bringing down my property value. Can I contact this "company" and advise them to cease and desist such activity or face a lawsuit?

I have already started the notice to quit for non payment, and sent the move out checklist for August 31, 2020.

They're bringing in other people to exorcise the house?

Generally, there are going to be two groups of people. One group is going to not believe in exorcisms, and think that it's a bunch of hokiness, and the other group is going to believe in exorcisms, but have a solid opinion about what is or isn't a valid exorcism, and if you don't do it according to x, y, and z, you're wasting your time at the best, or you're putting yourself in danger at the worst.

Either way, I wouldn't expect it to bring down your property value. One of the things about FB is that it's so hit-or-miss, it's almost impossible to find stuff that you're actually looking for, let alone bumping into it by accident.

Just focus on getting them out normally. If you're worried about the exorcism from a financial standpoint, it's not going to hurt you. If you're worried about them stirring up bad stuff, or bringing bad stuff in--- then do what you matches your beliefsets to bless it properly and get stuff calmed down and cleaned up. :P --96.46.xxx.xx

I would ignore the exorcism activity and focus on doing whatever CT allows you to do to collect the rent.

I agree with Deanna that very few people (prospective tenants in the future or prospective buyers in the future) will ever know that the exorcism house on Facebook is the same house. The OP never said weather the tenants were performing the exorcisms themselves or they were hiring it out.

Are the tenants doing it themselves or have they hired someone?

How did you find out about this?

It sounds like that you found it on FB and not by property inspection.

What kind of damage are they doing?

I also disagree with others as to this not hurting the value of the house because neighbors and the people involved talk and it is on social media.

Could be viewed as religious ceremony. Don't forget, Jesus cast out demons (people who didn't cross over into the light) and were hanging around in other folks bodies. Still happens. Talked to a minister at the post office one day. Great conversation. He's still doing it. I explained a few things to him. Then there are souls that were never human, like animal souls and supposedly they can also possess a weak minded person. Apparently weak mindedness is one of the conditions for being possessed. That said, I am not at all weak minded and have had some attempts made upon me. I was able to stop those. One time a spirit, my mother I think, used my larynx while I was half asleep to tell me one of my dogs was in trouble. I could hear a little voice coming from my throat saying "Mamie is in trouble." Very creepy experience. Little Mamie was in trouble. She soon developed mammary cancer and too much surgery killed her. So there are all levels of possession. The worst is when a bad person takes over a kind of weak innocent person. And that is why I do not support the death penalty. Imagine Charles Manson showing up in your kid across the breakfast table. Usually it's more subtle than that. A child becomes really unstable and has to be hospitalized to keep from doing harm to itself. Sometimes a teen will change abruptly from a gentle good person to a derelict. And then there is the occasional soldier or cop who has to shoot someone and kill them and that spirit keeps trying to control the shooter. I have seen that up close. The spirit takes over at night and causes sleep walking, talking in sleep and other odd behaviors. Sometimes people just think they changed their mind about something and start doing normal behaviors that are just not theirs. For example a quiet homebody who starts bungee jumping. It's real. It's out there and I would just go with the flow on this one in the apartment. The more you try to stop this the more publicity you get. --71.104.xx.xxx

Another poster is threatening to sue my tenants for defamation (apparently it his relative that lived on my property before I owned it). My tenants hired some ghost hunters that have gone live with this ceremony on FB and you tube. 6x6, yes it will reduce the value of my property, the ability to re-rent and/or sell. It is a small town and neighbors talk for sure. I found this information out because my tenants informed me that my property was haunted and they were conducting an exorcism on July 25th. The ghost hunter company charges $200 per hour, and they will be returning for another showing. Ally, thank you for your feedback. It appears you have a "gift" and I respect that. So the tenants are using the name of the former owner as the spirit that is possessing someone in their home? That's odd. I don't see why they are paying a film company. The film company/ghost hunters, should pay your tenants who could then pay the rent. Previous owners who die usually don't bother anyone until the current resident starts making changes in some part of the building that they liked and don't want changed. Dead people who have decided to stay in their homes can also dislike a current occupant enough to scare them good. I was told a story by one of my former husband's clients. A family moved into a very stately older Victorian Home on Doctors Row in Trenton NJ. The family dog would not go into one room. A small child screamed when someone tried to take it in their. One day the male resident felt someone grab him by the throat and start to choke him. He screamed "Jesus, Mary and Joseph" and it let him go but he got out with his family that night. If your tenant is paying someone to film what is going on there, it's likely there IS something going on. --71.104.xx.xxx

This property is on a very peaceful plot of land that has been well cared for.
