I am extremely pleased to hear after the botched Wuhan virus control that they should be penalized and that funding should be pulled ...900 million plus over 2 years. Thats a lot of money that can be put elsewhere in the current market.

A restaurant in northern China put up a banner celebrating the virus’s spread in the United States. A widely circulated cartoon showed foreigners being sorted into trash bins.

And some wanted to keep our jobs and factories there. China that makes 90% of our medical equipment, prescription drugs or the ingredients.

And we cant get the supplies for testing without the factories. We can make test kits. But cant get enough of what we need to analyze the sample. That is made in China.

Trump being impeached had nothing to do with his delay. It wasn't like he was too busy:

The CDC issued the first warning about COVID-19 on January 8th.

Trump held campaign rallies on January 9, 14, 28, and 30; February 10, 19, 20, 21, and 28. So, he certainly had time to campaign during that time...

Also, he needed a little relaxation too to recover from his impeachment, so he played golf on January 18 and 19; February 1 and 15; March 7 and 8.

He first admitted that COVID-19 might actually be a "problem" on March 13th.

So, he had 15 days to campaign or play golf after the CDC issued their first warning. He clearly had some free time. And, heck, if we just go starting AFTER the impeachment, he had at least 8 days doing campaigning and golf.

Sorry, trying to argue he was "too busy" just doesn't work. He was out campaigning and relaxing for over a full two weeks of days during the time this pandemic was spreading across the world before he even admitted it was an issue.

Well you have to admit what he did was better than if a dem in charge. Pelosi in February was complaining about limiting travel from China. And encouraging people not to stay home. That they should go out to Chinatown.

What turned me was I still dont get the love affair Libs have with communist China.

We sure missed those factories when we could not even make simple mask. We used to out produce all countries combined.

Also, while we're at it... People like to say how great Trump was for limiting travel from China. There are two huge issues with that:

1. He didn't limit ALL travel from China at all! People like to say and think that he did, but he didn't. He restricted ONLY travel from foreign nationals from China. That means that Chinese Americans were able to freely travel to and from China during that time. As if the virus only attached to Chinese people that were Chinese citizens or something? In any case, estimates put it at around 40,000 people traveling to and from China during this "limited travel" period. In other words, it was fairly worthless because he didn't really block travel that mattered.

2. Most scientific research so far indicates that COVID-19 traveled to the USA primarily from Europe, not China. So, even though it originated there, it went elsewhere FIRST and THEN came to the USA from Europe.

So, again, the China "travel ban" likely didn't slow things much at all, if any! So, people -- including Trump -- need to stop saying that he hoped right on things by banning travel from China. That isn't accurate at all -- and isn't even how it came here anyhow!

Also, I don't see that the "Libs" love China. I think lots of people wish that more manufacturing was done here in the USA -- regardless of their political party. But, in general, Americans like their masks, phones, computers, and everything else we buy to be cheap -- so we won't PAY American workers enough to do those jobs -- so we'll keep farming it out to China! Not because we WANT to or because of any "love affair", but mostly because we're all darn cheap. :(

John, the point I and many others are trying to make is that Pelosi et al (and all her minions) want to only pick the POTUS out and blame him for every single thing he does. She could make much, much more foolish errors in judgment (as she generally does) but will never admit to any horrible decisions.

JB: We can agree to disagree on that. I think Trump could have done much better and didn't. I think he downplayed it because he thought he understood it better than he did (he flat out said how smart he was about understanding it multiple times). I think he thought it would blow over at a handful of infected people and he was wrong. And I don't think that is all just 20/20 hindsight stuff (as detailed above). He had lots of notice and warning and he ignored science because he either didn't care or thought that he was smarter than the scientists give him data. He's done that many times.

Yes, I am tired of the disgusting bias and partisanship -- from BOTH sides. But that wasn't really what this was about in the discussion above. (Again, I was responding to you basically blaming Pelosi for this by "distracting" Trump with his impeachment. The timeline simply doesn't line up to that argument. It's just plain wrong and clearly part of the bias that you say you're supposedly against.)

I give up. The never Trumpers are never going to admit anything. The effects of the impeachment don't stop the day it ends. He's talking to experts, figuring out where we go from there. That is quite foolish to think otherwise.

And yes, as mentioned many times before, the WHO and other experts were feeding us and the President bad information. But you don't care about any of that, so I'm going to quit wasting my breath. All you are going to see is what you want to see and what your news media feeds you.

So, JB, you're still arguing that his poor response to the pandemic was because of the impeachment? So, you do admit that he handled it poorly then? Or he handled it well, but it would have been better if it wasn't for the distraction of impeachment?

And, then, regardless of your answers on that, you're still arguing that he was too busy after the impeachment, but had plenty of time for multiple state campaign rallies and a dozen days of golf?

Sorry you are so frustrated, but please try to see both sides of this. You come off just like the people you are ripping into -- except that you come off blinded by Trump.

You accuse others of only seeing what they want to see and what the media feeds to you -- and you seem to be doing the exact same thing except substitute "media" for either "Fox News" or "Trump's Tweets."

JB: My point is that people above (you, I think, right?) were saying that Trump was "distracted" by Pelosi and the impeachment process and that was the blame for any "delay" on this. So, did he delay or not? You can't have it both ways. You can't say that he didn't do poorly and didn't delay -- and then say in the next breath that the impeachment process distracted him and that is why he was delayed.

Also, outside of this forum's echo chamber, LOTS of people are saying that Trump had a poor response to this. I don't see why you can't discuss some of that without getting upset and deciding that anyone that doesn't agree with you is being tricked by the media.

There has been a lot of talk on this forum about scientific data and how to use that to respond to COVID-19. And yet people seem to want to ignore that. I don't get how people can just ignore science and data. :( That's not the media tricking us. That's looking at the research and data available and trying to decide what makes sense moving forward.
