China is mad about the name "China Virus". In china, the state media calls it the USA Virus, they ridicule our president for is handling the situation, which they report is "out of control, with massive graves everywhere".

They show videos of empty USA streets, closed businesses, shortage of masks, gloves and gowns, shortage of hospital bed, empty shelves in stores and long food lines...All while adoring the Chinese leadership, showing (forced) open stores in China.

Fred you are wrong-- this is communism at its BEST. It's how they do it and have been since Mao.

Wonder how China stopped the spread? They stopped testing. No tests, no discovering new patients. Success! Communist governments do not care about their people. If they purge a portion of their population due to the virus, it's no big deal. They simply don't care. The only important thing is that China looks good. That's why Chinese doctors trying to sound the alarm were silenced, the outbreak downplayed and the dead hidden.

If they had announced the alarm early, they could have prevented the epidemic from becoming a pandemic.

To be fair, that sounds a lot like what we're doing right now. Trump and Pence promised 5,000,000 tests last week. So far, we've tested about 67,000 people. I work doing IT work for some local healthcare entities -- and none of them can get more tests! Where are these 5,000,000 tests that were promised last week and they said were already shipping to the states?

Now all the news is new tests that take less time that are coming. Which, yes, is great -- but still doesn't explain why we're STILL so far behind on testing.

Note that the White House yesterday basically gave a press conference to go "don't be alarmed when the number of infected jumps -- it's just because the backlog of tests are finally starting to come back." Um, yes, but we should still be alarmed -- because we're still not doing enough testing to know where we stand.

In my state, we're averaging 1 positive for every 3 tests sent in. They've done ~3000 test so far -- and we have 1035 confirmed infected. The "# infected" graphs look nice and linear because we're not able to test enough to really see which is very likely exponential growth.

So, it seems really funny to me to say that may China is hiding their infected numbers by not doing testing -- when we seem to be doing something very similar!

The CDC literally has WRITTEN criteria that to be tested, you need to fit one of these 4 categories:

- Pregnant in 3rd trimester.

- Symptomatic.

- Healthcare worker needing clearance

- High-risk age group or immunocompromised.

There is TONS of evidence out there that we aren't testing enough and that clinics cannot get enough tests. It's not BS by a long shot -- it is easily researched and shown! I don't see how you can even pretend it isn't true.

Note that I literally work for a local, large healthcare provider. They CANNOT GET THE TESTS. Period. This isn't some "my friend's boyfriend's sister said BLAH" situation. This is me, at work, with tons of people that should be tested, being told that there are not any tests to give them!

So don't tell me that this is "BS" and that we're testing enough because you had a tenant who told you a story about getting tested in your area. That is NOT the norm.

Forgive our president for being hopeful and optimistic. I for one am glad he is. And as for tests, they're doing everything they can, and factories are churning out product as fast as they can, and others are gearing up to do the same. But only Thanos (Marvel's Avengers reference) can snap his fingers and have something happen immediately. Mortals can't.

The fact that we're seeing tests starting to come out, and that the backlog of tests are being evaluated is proof positive we're moving in the right direction.

My wife's hospital needs masks, gloves, etc. She needs them now, but life doesn't work like that. I'm amazed in what's been accomplished in weeks.

FWIW, I did not support DT as a candidate. It wasn't until he became the nominee that I looked at him seriously. I knew he was saying a lot of the things that I wanted to hear, but I didn't know if he could/would do what he said he would do.

To my surprise, the man has been a rock. Economically, up until this pandemic hit, we had exceeded nearly anyone's expectations. His detractors have been rabid. I think mostly because they are so bitter that their candidate "surprisingly" lost. I can understand that his language and candor rubs some people the wrong way. I just wish people would be intellectually honest and judge the man on what he has actually done for us/his actual actions and those results and not simply on picking out a word here or there to tear him down with.
