Solar minimum is when you have a relatively quiet period of activity on the sun. :) So instead of lots of sunspots and solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CME's), you get more coronal holes. More coronal holes, incidentally, lead to more solar wind, which leads to geomagnetic storms--- which is awesome, if you want to go aurora-watching. :)
The temperature does change-- in the upper atmosphere, at least. :)
A complete solar cycle can take anywhere from 8-14 (16?) years to go through.

I provided limited Solar at a rental. I explained that the system will run small economic use items during the day and on battery at night it's only going to be extremely limited. We reviewed day use items. The system could handle Lights, small TV, small Microwave and computers without consuming the utility's power.
So the tenant tried turning on all of their lights, of course not the LED provided in the rental but their halogen lamps. And they also tried using their 40" and 72" HDTV's, plasma power hog. And instead of using the 800 watt microwave hood in the kitchen they would use their 1600 counter top unit. The solar system couldn't handle it so the power was taken off of the grid. The solar system in their case didn't save them a penny. --47.156.xx.xx |
