How to get rid off green vegetation and unwanted grass, weeds, shrubs ? I am looking for organic or home based solution. The last I read was,

Take a 2 Gallon Spray Bottle

1. Vinegar - 1 Gallon

2. Water - 0.5 Gallon

3. Salt - 1 cup

4. Dawn liquid soap / Dishwasher soap - 1 tea spoon

Mix well and spray on weeds

This mixture makes 1.5 Gallon of Weed Killer Spray

Please let me know. --73.106.xxx.x

yes, I use roundup at chain link fence where the string trimmer will not work. --144.250.xx.xx

I have heard of that solution and tried it on some grass between concrete and it did not work. Maybe I didn't use enough though. Covering it up with a weighted tarp will do it but it takes awhile. --173.61.xxx.xx

we have had good success with plain rock salt spread very thick in the area and on stumps.

Otherwise, Roundup --131.151.xxx.xxx

Landscape fabric, six in layer of mulch, plant the kind of plants that will thrive in that spot. Then get out there EVERY spring and hand pull all of the baby weeds that sprout up BEFORE the seed pods develop, and add new mulch EVERY year.

Or, Round -up works well.

So does concrete.

Simple bleach straight from the bottle is the best home based solution.

Of course a lot of salt will also work.

Otherwise use a soil sterlilant like Primotol.

Original Roundup was made to kill and replant a few days later.

The extended control does have a little soil sterilant with it. --73.152.xx.xxx

For bushes and trees that grow in fence lines, stand alone bushes, stubbon plants... i cover them with a bag of rock salt. Like the kind for your water softener. Trim plant back and Dump the entire bag on the plant. Let the rain and sun do the rest. Fast and easy. --99.203.xx.xx

Good to know that formula works, nhsailmaker. As many on the forum are expecting, glyphosate, and any hardware store chemicals, are probably going to become the next lead paint or mold issues in landlording. Oi!

Btw, I have gotten many bug sprays and lawn chemicals from tenants who seem to buy gallon size containers when they see a spider or a weed. They use it once, the leave the container sit in the basement. --70.92.xxx.xxx

I saw another way of killing weeds by NOT using chemicals. That is, to burn them with torch. These torches are available at Harbor Freight and Walmart for $60. Good for melting snow in winter.

- Red Dragon Propane Torch Kit Review Model No: VT2 1/2-24CE

- Weed Dragon

- Propane tank.
