Bought a place a month ago before the city took it for non payment of taxes,had it cleaned out and lawn mowed,i have $10500 in it,listed it and had a couple of low offers.All of a sudden this weekend I got 3 offers all at exactly $30000.So apparently it really does happen when an agent tells you they have multiple offers on a bank owned place --72.231.xxx.xxx

Ken,

Seems odd. 3 offers for the exact same amount at the same time. Please keep us informed as transaction progresses. I thought I had heard of every unscrupulous slick real estate move but I can't see the hazard or risk here. Not sure there is any problem but still seems odd.

In any event, I would require ABSOLUTELY proof of funds with their written offer before accepting and opening escrow. If they want inspection, maybe allow simple walk-thru for buyers before accepting and opening escrow.

As I'm sure you know there are plenty of investors out there that specialize in tying up properties with the intent of finding various excuses to delay closing and view the legal system as a profit center rather than an annoyance. Few people call their bluff which is what it often takes.
