I stopped accepting Section 8 tenants about 3 years ago. I have rented to them since 1989. My life is a tiny bit LESS stressful now. Could there be a correlation? --75.67.xxx.xxx |

The City of West Hollywood ordered me to re-paint a unit only after 8 months of tenancy. Why? Because there were smudges on the wall, finger prints. The West Hollywood Section 8 Manuel states the tenant is liable to clean fingerprints off the walls themselves. I refused to paint and found my self in a Section 8 Hearing. The City didn't know what I was talking about. If I didn't re-paint the unit Section 8 was going to withhold the rent.
So I produced the manual and they didn't care, saying I can't prove the marks were fingerprints. I then had a Los Angeles Police Finger Print Expert testify that he examined the markings on the wall and found them to be juvenile finger prints...
This is only one of dozens of Section 8 mishaps issues that landlords have to deal with in Los Angeles and joining areas.
