For 20+ years I have had accounts at all three.

Home Depot

Home Depot PRO ( used to be my favorite E-Barnett)

HD Supply Facilities maintenance

So all owned by Home Depot. But separate websites.

And you will find items on one that they dont have on the others.

So a lot of times I find myself checking 3 different Home Depot websites. Does not make a lot of sense.

They seem to be buying up a lot of companies I have used for years and changing the name.

Amazon has been doing this for years. I use to buy tools on line from a company called Tool Crib a relatively small company located towards the middle of the country. They offered good quality tools with decent pricing, fast friendly service and an excellent selection. At some point

Amazon acquired them & the quality of the whole shopping experience went down while the prices went up. --96.237.xx.xx

What is the question?

Our company thinks it's fantastic-- lower pricing and less running around for things you NEED.

I learned this 34.5 years ago. True story. My first rental needed a new surround tub. So my father in law and I drove from store to store trying to find the best price (no Internet then Al Gore hadn't invented it yet) Minimum 6 hrs for 2 men and I think I saved a whole 30.00 dollars. Bottom line was I wasted 6 hrs of time and more importantly 6 hrs of labor time driving around not working the rental that day. Best lesson to learn early on. Pick a place- like a home depot and get to know it-- where everything is so you can go right to it. --99.103.xxx.xxx

We like Home Depot. They seem to increasingly be hiring retired people who have life experience to share when we're trying to solve a problem. --67.164.xxx.xxx

Steve, MA, Amazon may not have acquired the company. People can sell on Amazon now like on Ebay. So the company you liked may have started selling on Amazon and it was just too much for them and they couldn't keep up with demand. I don't use Amazon at all and try to find a mom and pop to buy from.My hardware store is a True Value franchise but the owner and his sons are working there every day. --173.61.xxx.xx

Really just found it strange that they would run it as three completely separate businesses.

Instead of having one website you need to search 3 or 4 even if it is all Home Depot.

I even have separate outside sales reps calling on us. And one cannot sell items that the other has.

Just not very efficient for them. But assume they have a reason. --73.152.xx.xxx

RR78 VA,

Why don't you contact HD in Atlanta and ask them?

I'm sure they'll give some corporate story, then share it with us. --99.59.x.xxx

I guess I was just venting some.

And not like I am going to change anything.

I may just see some advantages. They all do carry some the same products.

Next time we have a good order on those items. I may just wait for a call from a sales rep and play one against the other. And see who gives the most discount.

Then will report back here if any difference.

Yes it does seem nuts that you are shopping from HD. But have to check 3 different sites. Easy to get them confused.

Here is an example that happened.

One of the HD companies you can buy certain cabinets.

Now lets say you need to replace a drawer.

The one you bought the cabs from does not have a parts account with the manufacturer. Just compete cabinets account. So item not is available and they cant special order it.

Now the crazy part.

Another one of the HD companies does have a parts account with the manufacturer so they can order the part for you. But they cant sell whole cabinets.

Neither company knew the other did this. I found out thru the manufacturer.

Then if you need a certain individual part. --73.152.xx.xxx
