In my own home. Jetted tub. Filled tub with water, turned on jets and bunched of these drain flys announced their unwelcomed arrival! Never heard of such until google search revealed they are common. There are ways to treat drains but chemicals seem like they would be hard on the jets and rubber washers. I thought bleach may even be hard on rubber parts. Anyone ever treat such Drain Flys successfully? --99.203.xx.xx

I have had success dumping baking soda down drain followed by lemon juice or vinegar and leaving it setting over night. Also put a zip it down drain prior to applying anything. --68.107.xxx.x

A capful of corn oil into the drain seals off the water from the air so you can leave it alone for a month or 2 without drying out the trap. --76.188.xxx.xx

Plenty,

You need the foaming action to get them in the cracks and crevices of the jets and tubing.

And life is short! take more jet baths!

I guess I've been lucky. I've had these little flies at vacant rentals and at my own house...they always seem to disappear on their own after a few days. --72.188.xx.xxx
