So the oldest tricycle motor graduated a few weeks ago. I took her on a trip to the beach as a graduation present. I'm sitting here on the laptop working a little and just had to pause for a minute and reflect on everything. This business has been so gracious to me over the years that I am able to do this. Some of you would probably yell at me for even being on the laptop while out of the country. The old saying of "find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life". Well, I found that job 20 years ago after buying my first property. I was also blessed enough to go full time at it this year. I have put in hours, blood, sweat and tears into this, but honestly wouldn't trade it for anything. My kid thinks I'm crazy because all she knows is the nasty cleanouts that she's helped with. I'm retired in my early 40's. Not fully retired, but probably as retired as I'll ever be. Once it gets in the blood....

Because of this job, I was able to take my kid out of the country. I have her and 2 of her friends down here along with another buddy and his girlfriend. We are having an absolute blast! I'm also still able to run my business. I've scheduled 3 showings and also some repairs. With technology the way it is today, you truly can work from the beach! (Read my previous post about doing an eviction literally from the beach a couple weeks ago!) Never in my wildest dreams when I was graduating college a couple days ago (haha) did I imagine this is where I would end up.

Anyway, thanks for letting me ramble. You all on this board have helped tremendously along the way. The advice gained here has been gold! Cannot thank some of you enough. Met some friends along the way and was even able to put faces to screen names at the last 2 conventions. It's been great! Here's to the next 20 years!

Rent on!

Congratulations!

What has always gotten to me is the comments from friends and family about how being a landlord is somehow wrong and not what normal people do. I just smile and think "if you only knew" as they go off to work for their paycheck. They have 50+ years of work to look forward to. Making money for someone else. Receiving wages. Maybe, if they are lucky, they don't get paid off, fired, downsized. Most of them are 2 paychecks from the poor farm. When their supervisor cancelled their vacation, they can only take it you know where. Once they get to be 67 or so, then maybe they can get social security, if it's even there. Statistics show that over 90 percent of them have little savings, almost no net worth and will barely scrape by --- after 50 plus years of work.

It's a different life we choose. --71.10.xx.xxx
