New NY LL/Tenant Law (by Jeff . [CO]) Posted on: Jun 16, 2019 9:07 AM

I just read about The Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act of 2019. Glad not to be a landlord in New York (state)! Many are claiming that the new law will mean that housing stock will fall into disrepair and that developers will not developing.

As bad as the government meddling and this new law is, I don't think that will happen.

Business are creative and tend to adapt. They won't like it, but they will find a way to make it work.

Your thoughts?

It's not "law" yet Gov has to sign it (unless he did and I missed it). I'm sure he will though sigh.

He's already made it NYS wide that source of income is now "illegal".

Another thing that I caught on this new bill was that the Security Deposit cannot be more than the monthly rent. Also, they didn't make it across the entire state but made the option for cities in NYS to do rent control. I really hope that doesn't happen where I am. I have to read up on that if it does. --69.201.xx.xxx

Socialism at work. Available housing will decline--mutual funds will be more attractive as investments. Unavailable housing is not affordable housing.

Trump owns in NY city which has had rent control for years.I believe it was signed yesterday but as I understood each community is allowed to do rent control but there vacancy factor has to be less than 5%. I will read up on it when I have time --72.231.xxx.xxx
