Golly! This roomer-wannabe won't stop! (So glad all calls go to voicemail)

She got through pre-screening with stated income & lack of violent/drug convictions. Came and saw the rooms available - on time, polite. Took app. So far, so good - normal.

She left a vm saying she had everything. I met her at Hardees as she was getting off work to collect the app. (yes, I do this once in a while, when it's just as convenient for me as driving to the property - and the applicant would have to take 2 buses for hours to go meet me again. Remember - she already came once on time)

Anyway..... she didn't have the proper proof of income. She had the last paystub, but not the one before, had some from the previous month. (Newbie quiz: what does that mean?) The one was WAY less than half of what she needs.

So anyway I communicated with her by text a couple more times. When she said she had all the stuff now, I reminded her of the minimum amount it all needs to add up to - for the last month. If it does add up to that much(No way!), contact me and if not, best wishes finding another place....

She came back and said it adds up to a ridiculously high amount - impossible! (1 paystub I saw was well under $300 for 2 weeks - now her last month's income was over 1400)

So I quit responding, but she won't!! Voicemails & text messages over & over. She is desperate to get someplace to go - told me enough of her story.

I'm just wondering how long it will take her to understand that she needs to move on. Yes, I just delete them, but wow!

"So glad all calls go to voicemail" YES! Some people can't take hints...some can't take direct speaking. This is why we have that policy too.

You have the option to block her number. Strongly advise using that. Just having her ping you constantly disturbs you and is a distraction. I've read sever business articles that say the constant "pinging" of emails, texts, etc. reduce work productivity immensely. Even if you IGNORE them, they still steal your focus and cause you to write posts about clueless applicants on Mr. LL. (*wink)

You can set yourself a reminder to unblock it in a month or two if you like, in case it ever gets transferred to someone else who might be a decent customer. Most people port their numbers now, though. Once blocked, I don't worry about unblocking...even though there's a "chance" I might miss someone else later.

I like and use the Hardees idea often, sometimes you have to tell them the longterm answer is not going to become longterm, raise the rent 15-20 percent until month 12 comes along. --76.188.xxx.xx
