Been on the other side trying to figure out my child’s college apartment all day. Outgoing tenants willing to leave a chunk of furniture in a 3rd floor apartment but landlord was planning to do floors. Logistics of moving the furniture down 3 flights, renting a truck and a storage unit... all I going kids don’t care about the floors being redone so they texted the landlord to ask if he would put it off until the end of tbeirctrnancy and they will do the cleaning since furniture may be in the way. He agreed... score! I will not be trying to haul loveseats, beds, etc down 3 flights next week:)

Funny how landlords, myself included, don’t realize what kids don’t care about (like floors refinished).
That’s great you don’t have to move all that furniture 3 floors, though you're missing quite a workout:-).
Funny how well you can do by asking for something. Woody Allen said “80% of success is just showing up” I think also true is “80% of success is just asking for it” --100.1.xxx.xxx |

Running a half marathon over Memorial Day weekend, no need for a furniture moving workout. --24.61.xxx.xx |

I donated to one of my friends collage bound children some left overs from a tenancy. He didn't check out the room before the first day of school and had to sleep on the floor. While he was in class, we set up a bed, desk, mini-refrigerator, small 700 watt microwave and a free standing wardrobe closet. We left him a bill for gas and a McDonald's lunch -- all of $12. He thought that was quite high...since he had no job and was his parents mercy. --47.156.xx.xx |

I would have negotiated with LL to move furniture to one room, then move it to the other so floors could be done. Simple and easy, and a win-win.
I agree that we as LLs sometimes are out of touch with the wants and needs of our tenants. Sometimes you just have to ask! --69.80.xx.xx |

Going room to room would lose more than a month with water based poly coating. --76.188.xxx.xx |

This is why I don't get upset when tenants ask for something. Sometimes is works in my favor, otherwise I just say no. I don't take it personally when I am told no, but I figure I would get nothing anyway if I didn't ask. --108.4.xxx.xx |

I made good money in Prep school and College going around at the end of school gathering and storing free unwanted furniture and then reselling at the start of school in Sept
