Another wood floor dilemma. Just got a house back that we want to sell. Almost whole house has wood parquet (squares) floors which to me seem dated (golden color). But they are in excellent condition with no work needed to them. Would you put new laminate over them to update house? --107.197.xx.xx |

I keep hearing on the home remodel shows that parquet is out, but I think it looks lovely and it also looks expensive because of the kind of work that goes into one.

Parquet isn’t my preference, but I certainly prefer it over laminates, and it’s better than many other alternatives. I would put effort into making sure house smells clean, and that the front yard has curb appeal. A good staging company can do wonders, I have heard.

If water gets to the old Parquet flooring, they could swell and lift, causing many issues. Before I'd install laminate over it, I would make sure your underlay has a waterproof membrane. --47.156.xx.xx |
