We had a wayward teen in our neighborhood who would burglarize homes for jewelry, then try to get the silver and gold out of them over a backyard fire. He was careless and got imprisoned - and the firepit had to be dug up and some soil removed due to (thankfully) minor contamination from something in the metals that was environmentally unfriendly (too long ago, can't recall just what).
The family eventually moved away, and the new owners never knew a thing until the neighbors filled them in. Fortunately, everything had been cleaned up properly. --71.175.xxx.xx |
