Need to paint a large house I just got. A lot of it is new Sheetrock. Also a good portion the ceilings and walls needed to get skimcoated.
I’m going to prime everything from what SW told me.
I know you guys swear by paint sticks. I googled it and a bunch came up. Which one do you all use.

The Wagner paintmate has been my choice, but they about all do as good I think. My million dollar tip to save you brain damage - throw it out when done... cleaning and re using has never worked well for me. --174.236.xxx.xxx |

I agree with #22. Cleanup, while nice in theory, is a 20-30 minute job, very messy, and it never works as good as it did the first time. The stick only costs about $20, so what's your time and aggravation worth?
In between paint sessions, wrap the head and the paint intake slot in plastic grocery bags to keep them from clogging/drying. I've left one for several days and it was still good to go. --173.19.x.xxx |

I worship the sticks. I've tried ever conceivable form of painting and by far and away the paint sticks are golden.
I will say this-- for your new property. You will need 2 coats and I would spray. You will be doing closets ceiling walls-- tape everything you don't want painted-- yes that will take a day just for taping. Spray first coat and comeback 2nd day for final spray. You heard me right. But please please please use a paint that doesn't go out of manufacture. we use glidden ultra hide antique white. since 1986 it hasn't changed. You must use the same vendor however when purchasing it because H-depot glidden is not the same as glidden store (aka porter paint) glidden. you base number must stay the same. (I don't use h-depot glidden but porter glidden)
Once you get the base coats on when you come back next tenant-- you only have to touch up-- touch up is the center 3 feet of wall. you have 2 ft from the base and 2 ft from the ceiling that will be good to go-- the paint stick will zip through repaint. the paint flows into the upper and lower pre existing paint. Yes it takes about .5 hr to clean stick-- and its very important. we also only use the sticks 4 times and trash them after that. for 18.00 we break out new ones. There also sold at ALDI - on line-h-depot and lowes. you don't need a starter set-- with all the cut in tools and attachments either. --99.103.xxx.xxx |

LOVE paint sticks! Homeright or Wagner.
One for primer then start filling it with matte ceiling white, one for wall color.
Each will last a house or two.
Bag it by squeezing the bag into the wet roller so there is no air, tape over the inlet hole and it will last for months.
The pin holes in the crook tube will clog from the end first over time. Toss it when only half the roller gets fresh paint.
Of you cnanot find a fillmtune for a 5 gallon bucket, take the gallon tune and add some plastic hose from the plumbing aisle.
For cut in use a square paint pad on a short handle.
We’re talking an hour per room max.
Consider spraying the ceilings and PVA primer a tip extension.
Doors: remove and spray.

I also love paint sticks. I think we have used over 20 of them over the year,..Started out with the PUSH plunger types,..then to the trigger type which were an improvement,..
But the BEST are the battery operated ones (just 4 AA cells) .
Believe me the few extra bucks for them are worth it,..actually these CAN be cleaned easier than the earlier types (yes we also usually trashed the earlier ones when done)
Because of the ease of the battery power , these are easier to clean. Less of a chore so you/whoever uses it will do it.
Note a week point to these are the "DUCK BILL" , they are cheap and easy to change out, you can order extra ones,..
The duck bills prevent leaking of the paint sticks,..which is I think the main reason why they get thrown away,..
