I posted something about this earlier this week but it didn't make it to the screen. Obviously we are having trouble with North Korea. Some experts say on line that they can put a rocket payload nuclear bomb into the air above our country, detonate it and knock out the power grid. Or send us a couple of "gifts" that are radioactive and would kill people for miles around.

Scenario One is more immediately a problem since there is no heat, water pumping, gas pumping and everything with a circuit board is fried. I thought of a couple preparations that might help.

1 have a low tech vehicle such as dune buggy.

2. Make sure fireplaces can be actually used by tenants to keep warm.

3. Have rain barrels in place.

4. Supply insulation board, the thick pink kind, to form a shelter within the unit to conserve body heat. It's cheaper than stocking large tents.

5. Stockpile candles, batteries.

.6. Order that twenty year packaged Wise food and have lots of canned goods for your family and suggest that tenants do the same.

7. Have coins and cash on hand since checks and cards can't be processed.

8. Have something that shoots to protect yourself from large free running dogs and people.

Can you think of more suggestions?

The dirty bombs would bring about a slower bad outcome and just slowly kill people over days and weeks depending how close to the bomb and wind currents. But at least they would be able to work and pay rent for awhile.

How to prevent this? The Pres has to either negotiate with North Korea to trade with them so that we are of value to them while not sanctioning them as they are starving anyway. Or he has to destroy any missile installation and the mobile ones in one big push.

In a catastrophe of that magnitude, being a landlord is not going to matter. It would be chaos, and each person would be for themselves. I'm not going to care about rent. Currency could be rendered useless, especially if you are on the receiving end of a semiautomatic weapon.

If it's that bad, sadly, I'd probably wish the good Lord would just take us swiftly.

And Kim Jong Un needs to be very afraid. I am more afraid for the people of North Korea who have been brainwashed and imprisoned and have no choice. --136.32.xxx.xxx

This is one of the main reasons that I don't have regular television in my home and that I stay away from mainstream media outlets on the Internet. It's just pollutes your mind.

It always gives you something to worry about. The media has a slogan that says: if it bleeds, it leads.

So even if we were to resolve a conflict with North Korea, whatever that perceived conflict is. True or false, there would just be another one with someone else or some other country or some other political forefront of society or human identity. Whatever kind of headline they can drum up.

If you turn that TV off, and look outside, the birds are usually chirping and the sun is usually shining. So until we see bombers flying overhead or armies marching, I say don't worry about it. If it's a nuclear missile, you're not even going to know it anyways. It'll be over.

As far as surviving doomsday scenarios, that's something that you need to make a lifestyle more than a last-minute decision.

If it comes down to pure survival, you're not going to worry about your real estate and your tenants, because it's not going to matter. You probably lose communication, youll probably lose your highways and travel will be restricted and everyone will be suspect.

Cash won't matter.

Guns and food and shelter WILL matter.

And if it was a total economic collapse, the people with the guns, would take the food, from the people with no guns.

Ideally having somewhere to get to that's cut off from most people that you can defend yourself in and stock for long-term survival would be your best bet. The issue would be getting there. You would most likely have to travel at night.

I would really have no reason to shoot stray dogs unless I was going to eat them or starve.

Other than that, you just give away your position.

Now on the other side of that same coin, one thing that I think people need to realize is that even if there is a disaster, you have to look at how fast people come together to help one another. Look at floods and tornadoes and hurricanes. When those things come through and hit a place, everyone comes out of the woodwork and just overwhelms that area and rebuilds.

Almost like a ant hill. If you kick it, ants come out everywhere and just start moving stuff around. When you come back in a day or two and the ant hill is rebuilt. The same kind of thing happens with people. I think it's natural in the human psyche to take care of one another. Even in times of war.

Power companies are in business of supplying power, transportation companies are in the business of transporting. Water companies are in the business of providing water. People want to get back to business as soon as possible. People want to return to normal life as soon as possible.

So you kind of have to be a little bit trust worthy of human nature in that sense. You can just drive yourself crazy worrying about the what if's of the world.

Since we're on the subject....

NE PA, I was playing the Powerball but not doing well. A long time ago I almost had the Pick 5 by doing psy. Numbers don't come through for me but I am breaking even or better at picking scratch off tickets in the machine. I just got 95 dollars yesterday and the day after I dreamed about the NOKO voice and prediction I got money on three out of four scratch off tickets so I got $52 from a $9 purchase. I just "know" which ones to choose. Last year I was right behind a woman who won $5000 on a scratch off. I was going to choose the same one and was waiting for her to leave the machine. I knew that one was going to have a big payout. But I didn't mind not getting it after she said her husband had just died two weeks before. The thing is, someone is telling me things. I had no cancer symptoms and heard someone say to me in the middle of the night, "you have uterine cancer. get to a gynecologist". So I did and had the surgery and I'm OK so far. So having people I can't see tell me things is a regular occurance. I am really concerned about this North Korea message. If anyone knows a decision maker please tell them about the woman on your landlord group who gets information. --73.33.xxx.xxx

AllyM,

In international waters, just off the coast of N. Korea, the U.S. has Trident submarines which are loaded with cruise missiles with nuclear warheads on them. Just one of these missiles can make a 'parking lot' out of N. Korea in less than 2 minutes. Kim Jong Um is well aware of this fact and would not want to risk losing his hold on power by doing something stupid to us.

Kim Jong will continue to make threats but at the end of the day, he will do nothing that would risk his standard of living in N.K.

So AllyM, go back to bed and quit listening to those voices in the night. I think your chances of winning at PowerBall are better than the topic of this post.

Back to the subject.

If you want to be prepaid for power outage collect some manual tools and equipment. Learn about wild eatable plants and herbs. Learn how to fix or make closing.

If you afraid of global warming buy a house in a mountain so it will not be flooded. If you afraid of cold weather buy a house in a south. Look for source of fresh water too.

I think it is easier to survive in a country than in a city.

I am a city girl so it is just my thoughts..

During a war the most important stuff will be WEAPONS, food, salt, soap, matches and medicine.

Don’t think that tenants will pay you rent. They’re not thinking about it.

Do this preparations only if this will give you a peace of mind.

I personally like the foraging part. Look like fun to learn about it.
