State Specific Question About: ALABAMA (AL)
I had to reject four entry locks upon move out. Tennant did not turn in keys per written instructions.
How much should I charge? Rekey charge was $10 per lock plus my time to remove, go get the lock rekeyed and reinstall.
Suggestions appreciated!

Um.... you were going to have the locks changed or rekeyed no matter what - weren't you?
After all, no telling how many keys were made --64.251.xxx.xxx |

In my lease it states 25bux per lock to restore the master system, what does your lease say about this? --76.188.xxx.xx |

Even thought I always change cylinders between residents, I charge to change them. I get my keys from Ernie at Landlord Locks. It only takes seconds to change the cylinders, which cost about 10 bucks. I keep the old cylinders and locks and record where and when they were removed. I will eventually install these cylinders in a different unit. I wait at least 2 years to reuse them if in the same building, but might re-use them in a different location. --134.228.xxx.xx |
