State Specific Question About: COLORADO (CO)
We have such an issue with closet doors -- especially bi-fold, and wondered if anyone has come up with an alternative. --174.51.xxx.xxx |

On my cheaper units I have started taking the doors off. They can hang a curtain if they want the closet covered. Apparently they never close the doors anyway. --166.137.xxx.xx |

Cheaper, smaller units I order Extra Long Fabric Shower Curtains. They are the perfect length for closet doors. --173.22.xx.xx |

Just remove. Rarely you can find some smaller sturdy French style doors that might work, but I don't consider it worth the hassle to find and install. --136.32.xxx.xxx |

On one home, I experimented with having the entrance framed in for either a single or double swinging door (same type of door as the bedroom entrance has). Used magnetic catches and false door knobs. It has held up for over 10 years with no issues so far. --155.188.xxx.xx |

Yes we also just buy door slabs and install with non-mortise hingers then dummy knobs and a ball or roller catch --50.134.xxx.xxx |

A regular door can be installed with hinges. In rentals tenants do not treat doors well. Just finished fixing 4 bi fold doors where new tracks and hardware was installed. --74.220.xxx.xxx |

Bifold doors are hardly good anywhere but the ghetto shooting gallery places have a few that still work, those are the empty places. Look for cloth shower curtains at goodwill or habitat. --76.188.xxx.xxx |

On our class C-D homes, I mount a large decorative curtain rod above closet with curtains (black or brown) . Also... I buy both at Habitat for humanity re-sell store :) --75.128.xx.xxx |

I have bi-folds at home, and they always wind up being left open for convenience's sake - which impedes on floor space. Where you have the room, do what Gene suggested. If not, it depends on how high-end the rental is. Mine are "B" properties, so where I have to, I use 6-panel sliders to match the bedroom doors, and keep them in good operating order. (Darn! Just remembered that I have a couple of the old luan type doors that need to be changed out at the next turnover...) --71.175.xxx.xxx |
