State Specific Question About: ILLINOIS (IL)
I have three student tenants per apartment. They are often hard to get a hold of. Sometimes I need to hand deliver a notice, a letter or a disclaimer to them. When I need signatures often I cannot obtain three signatures. Usually I obtain one signature sometimes two.
I have one lease for all three tenants. Which they collectively and simultaneously endorse.
My question; Is there a form I can create or obtain that allows one signature by one tenant which applies for all tenants?
ex. Upon lease signing, I would like an addendum which states one signature serves as notice for all three tenants.
Respectfully,
Henry Gardner --67.186.xx.xx |

Why do you need a signature? You don't for evictions..... at least not theirs. --24.245.xx.xxx |

I bet the students are familiar with Dropbox. Look into it. There is a fee to use it, but my understanding is that in your situation, it would be very helpful, esp with student housing. The kids would probably be familiar with it and may even use it already for schooling to submit papers. It allows you to "sign" your name on your tablet or computer and use it to sign any docs online by just cutting and pasting. --174.59.xxx.xxx |

Lisa H --- I don't see that feature on Dropbox. Where is it?
It's mainly for sharing files.
Are you perhaps thinking of Docusign?

Henry,We supplied student housing for a local university, five students per unit. The only time we needed signatures were when the students moved in at the beginning of the school year. Both they and their parents or guardians.Never had any problems.Of course we did have an RA an older student who took care of things. Good luck.Charlie... --70.215.x.xx |

May or may not be of any value.
Signature by one tenant constitutes acceptance by all tenants. ______________________ --216.41.xxx.xxx |

I don't think there would be many things you would actually need to have a signature for. I can think of several (many) instances where I would need/want all of the residents to know. Since these are students in the age of technology how about texting? "Reminder that garbage day is Wednesday." Or "Now that warmer weather is here, please be sure the thermostat is in the off position before opening the windows." --64.222.xxx.xx |

Lois! Wow thanks! You are right! It is Docusign.
Check it out. I never thought of using it this way, but every now and then I rent a townhouse to an out-of-state resident and this would be nice to use! --174.59.xxx.xxx |
