State Specific Question About: ILLINOIS (IL)

Has anyone had a problem with installation of Wi-Fi access point antennas on their roof by an outfit called Towerstream?

These are relay transmit and receive antennas.

Specifically has it caused any problems with other tenants in your building or with any of their computers, routers, phones, etc?

Thanks for any input.

Interference in wireless transmission and reception is always a concern. Even moreso for consumers as everything becomes wireless. If they are using the 2.4GHz spectrum there are 11 channels but most access points and wifi adapters in computers and laptops use channel 6. This can be adjusted but sometimes takes some know how. --74.215.xxx.xx

JAC: Point-to-point wireless uses a different spectrum and therefore different channels than the in-house wireless routers that you are talking about. They won't interfere with local wireless. (Towerstream usually uses WiMAX in the 3.65GHz spectrum for non-line-of-site areas -- and uses the 5.8GHz spectrum for LOS areas.)
